Reviews!

To any authors/publishers/ tour companies that are looking for the reviews that I signed up for please know this is very hard to do. I will be stopping reviews temporarily. My husband passed away February 1st and my new normal is a bit scary right now and I am unable to concentrate on a book to do justice to the book and authors. I will still do spotlight posts if you wish it is just the reviews at this time. I apologize for this, but it isn't fair to you if I signed up to do a review and haven't been able to because I can't concentrate on any books. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time. I appreciate all of you. Kathleen Kelly April 2nd 2024

Review of Sumner Island by Michael Cormier

Book Description from PublishingWorks, Inc.

"Mitch is an avid historian drawn especially to the story of “America’s Princess,” Maria Boudreau. A trip to Sumner Island for a seance is right up his alley, but something is awry, the magnificent hotel at the island’s center seems to keep changing. Is this a case of heat stroke or something darker? Join Mitch as he travels across time and history chasing the ghost of his true love."

Meet Mitch Lambert who is a Professor at Fowler College and he wrote a book titled "America's Princess" for his thesis. The object of the story is Maria Boudreau a rich, beautiful young woman who's life is cut short at the age of 21 in the 1920's. Mitch travels to Sumner Island to observe a seance that is taking place at the hotel on the island called Smythe Resort. Mitch meets the owner of the cottage he will be staying at for the weekend, Mr.Arndt and through him Mitch will learn what happened so long ago as Mr. Arndt is in his nineties and has a lot of stories to tell. While at this resort Mitch starts having visions of a much earlier time at the resort and it has to do with the mystery surrounding Maria Boudreau's death which is still shrouded in secrecy as to what actually happened that fateful night in the tower room of the hotel. As these visions continue, Mitch is pulled into the past as he tries to figure out whether what he is seeing is actually the past or is it just the heat?? And how much his visions cost him. To say too much more would spoil this review. This is a ghost story that was a delight to read. From the beauty of the island to the 'love' story at it's root, the author's descriptions will make you feel like you are there in the this "golden time" in history. I highly recommend this paranormal book that will have you immersed in the story until the end.
