Reviews!

To any authors/publishers/ tour companies that are looking for the reviews that I signed up for please know this is very hard to do. I will be stopping reviews temporarily. My husband passed away February 1st and my new normal is a bit scary right now and I am unable to concentrate on a book to do justice to the book and authors. I will still do spotlight posts if you wish it is just the reviews at this time. I apologize for this, but it isn't fair to you if I signed up to do a review and haven't been able to because I can't concentrate on any books. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time. I appreciate all of you. Kathleen Kelly April 2nd 2024

"Lexi is doing her best to raise her daughter, Molly, by herself. With her husband in jail on drug-related charges and her father in a mental institution, she has no one to help with the finances. Although she works nights in a greasy spoon and days at a grocery store, she can't even afford rent for her rundown apartment or the utility bill. In fact, things are so bad that despite the freezing weather, she and Molly are sharing a pair of gloves. Just when it looks as though life couldn't get any worse, her husband's sadistic drug dealer shows up, demanding money owed him and implying that inaction on her part will result in malicious acts against her and Molly. Healy sets up such a brutally hopeless scenario, readers will wonder if there's any way out for Lexi. It takes a long time, but miracles can and do happen in this faith-based thriller. Fans of Ted Dekker will appreciate Healy's chilling story of the dangers on the road back to hope and faith." --Shelley Mosley
My Thoughts:
I was eager to read this book by Erin Healy and she does not disappoint although I did prefer her title Kiss with Ted Dekker better, this was a good story. It isn't until maybe halfway through the book that you realize that this story is the classic good against evil and having faith will help a person through even the worst..
All Lexi wants to do is to live her life with her daughter and just do the best she can. Things do not go as planned though as Lexi is asked to be at a parole hearing for the man who murdered her sister, her husband has also been released from jail and wants to be involved in their daughter Molly's and Lexi's life. Lexi's father is in a nursing facility and has Alzheimers and Lexi's mom is really no help, and then there is another person that comes upon the scene who really gave me the creeps. Not a nice person at all, if he is even a person....He threatens Lexi and wants the money that her husband owes him but he does not want the money from her husband, he wants it from her..and if she does not pay up he will kidnap her daughter. To say too much more would ruin the review. This is a very suspenseful story about good vs evil and even redemption. I did enjoy this story and I would read more of Erin Healy's work.Ted Dekker fans will love this new book.
I received this book from Phenix & Phenix Literary Publicists for review and was not compensated monetarily for my review.
