On Fur Bridge Farm, Jules cares for rescued rabbits. But when a killer strikes, she'll need a rabbit to rescue her . . .
Juliette “Jules” Bridge prides herself on the tender rehabilitation she provides for injured or abused rabbits on her New Hampshire rescue farm, but she has a very special relationship with one bunny in particular. Bun is a black-and-white rabbit who happens to have the ability to communicate through mental telepathy. Once she got over the shock, Jules found her furry friend had a lot to say.
One frigid March morning on their walk together, Bun spots a body. The police identify the frozen stiff as Arthur Freeman, aka Arty the Mime. Jules and Arty knew each other on the children's party circuit, where he’d perform magic tricks and she had an educational rabbit petting pen. With Bun egging her on, Jules decides it’s time they hop to it and put their heads together to discover who silenced the mime. But their investigation leads them down a rabbit hole of more suspects and lies, while a killer sets a trap for them . . .

Super DARK Cartel Romance
Twisted is live Thursday 11th July 219
Persia York has the face of an angel and a reputation that’s pure gutter but she will do anything for her family. Forced into debt-slavery to save her brother, things aren’t what they seem. No matter how hard she works, Persia can’t free herself. Worse, she publicly disses Jorge Santos, the leader of the Zeta cartel, and is catapulted into a turf war. Abducted and a helpless captive of the deadly drug lord, Persia decides she’s had enough. It’s time to fight back.

Dangerous, devious Jorge Santos doesn’t take shit from anyone. When a meeting with a rival turns ugly, Jorge goes to war. Determined on destruction, his first step is to abduct his enemy’s most prized possession, the beautiful but mouthy Persia York. But Jorge soon learns his victim is not as easy to break as he thought and to his shock, he falls for his adversary’s woman. As the war heats up, the cartel boss is forced to make decisions that may cost him his life – and his love.

A ruthless man on a quest to win no matter what it takes.
A woman intent on holding her own, even if it destroys her.

Twisted is a compelling tale of vengeance, murder, cartel violence and finding love in the darkest of times.

Warning: This bad boy dark romance contains explicit scenes of dubious consent and graphic violence.

Faith Lost By Jerry Gerold Spotlight Post and Interview!

Faith Lost
By Jerry Gerold
Genre: Suspense, Thriller
Benjamin Bracket, owner of pawn shop that specializes in vintage movie memorabilia has no idea his life is about to be turned upside down the day a mysteriously familiar woman walks through the door of his pawn shop wanting to sell a gun, or more precisely simply get rid of it.

The instantaneous attraction between Ben and Faith results in a whirlwind romance that has Ben's friend and employee Veronica concerned that her big-hearted boss is being played. Seeing a losing battle in attempting to caution her friend, she steps back and plays along while watching to see if this woman is truly what she appears to be, or the con-artist Veronica suspects.

Soon Ben begins to have puzzling dreams featuring silent film star Stanton Orloff, these dreams take him back to 1961, 1913, 16th century Timbuktu, and 1st century B.C. Egypt. Could these dreams be a result of his imagination after acquiring a rare collection of vintage films and movie memorabilia featuring the star or could they be dire warnings about what is to come , providing clues to follow when Faith suddenly disappears?

About the Author

Jerry Gerold was born and raised in Oregon where he’s lived most of his life. He grew up near Mt. Saint Helens and lived through the 1980 eruption where he endured two years of falling ash. A voracious reader since grade school – reading Shogun and The Exorcist at age 11 – he began writing stories at an early age, often mixing genres and tossing in musical references and a little – very little – humor. He has been self-publishing novels and short stories since 2000.

EXCERPT

Stanton Orloff was pissed.
His suit jacket flapped violently in the wind as he stomped along the mountain road. He took his hand off his hat to hold his jacket down, and the wind whipped it off his head. He cursed.
The sun was going down, a few rays sneaking through the forest ceiling to periodically blind him. He had only another mile to go, but it was uphill on a winding narrow road. He didn’t care. He was running on pure adrenaline.
It started to rain. Hard.
When he reached the dirt road veering off to the right, he paused for a moment. He checked his shoulder holster one last time. The gun was still there, and it was loaded. He was going to use it this time. It was long overdue.
The rain pelted him now, soaking his clothing. He marched up the drive, the wind and rain having chilled him to the point of numbness. He couldn’t feel his legs or the gun in his hand.
He halted at the porch steps, gazed at the house. If things had been different, it could have been Stanton living here. The ’39 Cadillac in the drive could be his, too. Charles LaSalle didn’t deserve any of this. He should be dead, executed in the electric chair.
A lamp was on upstairs, and a flickering glow came from the downstairs living room. A fireplace, perhaps. Stanton decided LaSalle would be here, relaxing for the evening. A surge of anger overcame him, and he rushed through the unlocked front door.
“You murdering son of a bitch.”
LaSalle turned his head, his face obscured by the smoke of his cigar.
“Well, if it isn’t good ol’ Stanton Orloff. This is an unexpected surprise. What brings you here at this hour?”
Stanton shuffled closer; the gun suddenly heavy in his hand. He was conscious of all the grooves in the grip, the coolness of the trigger. He brought it up, pointed it in LaSalle’s direction.
“What brings me here?” he asked, his voice a little high-pitched. “Justice. Pure and simple justice.”
LaSalle blew a smoke ring and chuckled. “Oh, really? So that’s what cold-blooded murder is called nowadays? I wasn’t aware of that.”
“It’s my only option left. You know that.”
LaSalle eyed him coolly. “I served my time, Stanton. Alice’s death was an accident, but I couldn’t fight it. My attorney was incompetent.”
“I’m not here about Alice, but thank you for bringing her up. We both know it was no accident. She told me with her dying breath that you shoved her over.”
“Ah, the dying words of a fair maiden,” LaSalle said. “How many times did we use such a device in our work, Stanton? It’s a heart-touching moment. Too bad people don’t take into account that a dying word can also be a lie.”
“It’s her word against yours.”
“That’s what it boiled down to, yes. But since she couldn’t testify, there was no way to prove her intent.” LaSalle sighed. “I didn’t appeal and accepted my verdict.”
“Ten years,” Stanton spat. “You should have been executed.” He shook his head. “It doesn’t matter now, because I’m going to kill you myself.”
“Well, my dear boy, if you feel you must, you must, but I have to warn you...”
“Warn me?” Stanton asked incredulously. “Warn me? I’m the one with the pistol pointed at your head. I warn you.”
“You may do that,” LaSalle said. “But it wouldn’t do you any good.”
Stanton saw belatedly that LaSalle had a gun in the shadows of his easy chair. He saw the barrel suddenly pointed at him, saw the burst of sparks as it was fired. He moved, and the bullet grazed his left arm. He returned fire, the bullet imbedding itself in LaSalle’s trachea. LaSalle fell sideways out of the chair, his pistol spinning across the hearth toward the fireplace.
Stanton stood over LaSalle, watched him claw at his neck while he struggled for air.
“I know you had Clara murdered, you fucking bastard. I saw the letters.”

Interview with Gerold
What do you find most challenging about the writing process, and how do you deal with it? I find marketing myself very difficult and am still learning the proper way to do it.
When and where do you do your writing? I write at home whenever I can.
What have you learned about promoting your books? Social media is not the place to promote your books. It just gets lost in the shuffle. Sites that send out daily e-mails or newsletter seem to work better for me.
What are you most proud of as a writer? I’m proud that I continued to improve as a writer enough to garner the attention of a publisher.
If you could have dinner with any writer, living or dead, who would it be and what would you talk about? One of the authors who had the most influence on me as a young man was Ray Bradbury. I’ve always found his stories to be a bit off center and I would want to discuss how he was able to do this and still be successful. I would always like to discuss co-authoring a book with him!

Read an Excerpt
CHLOE: NEVER FORGET – Book 2 in my Carl Sant Murder Mysteries series – features a retired policeman suffering from amnesia. This is a crying shame because the memories locked away inside him need unlocking. Why? Because without these memories, solving the murder he once witnessed would prove impossible. The following extract from the book is our first encounter with Police Constable Frank Tanner, now going by a different name. He starts by expressing a personal responsibility to the past; to tragic events he decides to confront after sidestepping them for so long.

Your name is Nigel Fleming.
You are seventy years old. A fraction older. Age never lies.
Once upon a time you were known by a different name.
A name you no longer use. Or care to remember.
A name you can’t shake off – lashed to an incident you can’t shake off either. An incident you’ve spent half your life coping with.
But you can’t. So you revel in distraction.
You play golf. You’d like to play more often. The pain after eighteen holes is excruciating. So you stick to nine.
You don’t tell anyone about the pain. Or the cause of it.
You are married to a lovely person. Mrs Fleming. Her Christian name escapes you.
You have three children who are no longer children but working-adults-stroke-parents not bothered about old gits like you, thank you very much. You watch the telly. Your favourite pastime. You watch the football, the cricket, the dogs, the horses, the rugby, the golf and the weather.
But most of all, you watch the news. The local news, the national news, the world news.
Politics, business, crime.
The same news. Every day.
TICK TOCK TICK TOCK.
On the hour. Every hour.
You want to remember. You also want to forget.
TICK TOCK TICK TOCK.
You cannot get to sleep.

Tanner wants to remember. He also wants to forget. An ambiguous stance if ever there was one! The point is, though, that even if he really does want to remember, he is unable to. Or at least, he was unable to. I’m not throwing any unwanted spoilers out there by revealing a plot device I could hardly call my own: the one about the character who begins to recall things long forgotten, usually following some form of psychiatric intervention.

That’s the sublime beauty of the human mind. Its resilience should never be underestimated. Of course, PC Tanner is pure fiction. It’s all very well inventing someone whose memory returns, yet in reality such a feat of mental recovery is the exception, not the rule. But the fact that it can happen, albeit infrequently, provides all sorts of delightful possibilities, especially for the writer of suspense; the writer who wants to keep all doors open as long as possible, before finally and reluctantly closing them for the sake of a story, a tying up of loose ends, a wholly constructed yarn.

I do hope readers enjoy Frank Tanner. The way his restored memory-clock plays tricks on him, the way these tricks pull at other threads of the CHLOE narrative continuum from Book 1 through to Book 2. Tanner is deeply imperfect, but aren’t we all?

Author Bio

Dan Laughey is a lecturer at Leeds Beckett University where he teaches a course called ‘Youth, Crime and Culture’ among other things. He has written several books on the subject including Music and Youth Culture, based on his PhD in Sociology at Salford University. He also holds a BA in English from Manchester Metropolitan University and an MA in Communications Studies from the University of Leeds.

Dan was born in Otley and bred in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, a hop and a skip away from the Leeds setting of his Chloe novels.

His crime writing was purely academic to begin with. He’s written about media violence and tackled the age-old concern about television and video games influencing patterns of antisocial behaviour in society. After years of research and theoretical scrutiny, he still hasn’t cracked that particular nut.

He’s also written about the role of CCTV and surveillance in today’s Big Brother world, the sometimes fraught relationship between rap and juvenile crime, football hooliganism, and the sociocultural legacy of Britain’s most notorious serial killer – the Yorkshire Ripper.

All in all, Dan’s work has been translated into four languages: French, Hebrew, Korean and Turkish. He has presented guest lectures at international conferences and appeared on BBC Radio and ITV News in addition to providing expert commentary for The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph.
