“Explosive and filled with drama, Last Place Seen reads like a bingeable crime series, with secret lives, a kidnapping, misdirection, and enough family conflict to spark a wildfire.”

~ Jennifer Klepper, USA Today Bestselling Author of Unbroken Threads

“This was an exciting rollercoaster of a read that kept me up well into the night, unable to put the book down as the mystery and surrounding drama hooked me completely. Author Alessandra Harris doesn’t miss a single trick in filling the narrative with tension, intrigue, and well-timed explosive developments, her sense of pacing underscoring the outstanding narrative throughout. The prose and descriptive writing set the book head and shoulders above other works in the genre, effectively using the sweltering Californian heat to add to the atmosphere and create a pressure cooker for the characters in which anything could happen at any moment.”

~ Reader’s Favorite

Alessandra Harris offers readers a first-rate thriller that wrestles with controversial issues and comes off victorious by means of an exceptionally well-structured storyline with some stunning twists… Sublime, compelling, nuanced, and wholly entertaining, Last Place Seen is an absolute must-read!” Indies Today

“…the pages fly by with major revelations and marital and family crises, which combine to add a measure of suspense to the conclusion.” ~ Kirkus Reviews

"Ever since my story about a genie granting a girl’s three wishes won the book fair in the fourth grade, I’ve had a passion for reading and writing.  Raised and educated Catholic, my faith has always been a huge part of who am I. Though I started as a Theology major at a Catholic University, life happened, and I eventually earned a degree in Comparative Religious Studies and Middle East Studies from San Jose State University. Learning about Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and numerous other religious traditions from all around the world, and within the United States, broadened my understanding and increased my empathy and tolerance.

I started writing for an online magazine focusing on the San Francisco Bay Area African American community in 2007. I joined the Meetup, San Jose Writers, in 2012, and have been the Organizer since 2014. We are a group of eclectic writers offering fellowship, support and tips on all forms of writing.

In 2015, I signed a contract with Red Adept Publishing. My debut novel, Blaming the Wind, was published in 2016, followed by Everything She Lost in in 2018. Both novels explore friendship, marriage, parenting, mental illness, and redemption. My third novel Last Place Seen is a thriller set for release on September 6, 2022. It follows a young couple trying to put their lives back together after their husband’s incarceration. Things become more complicated when a ten-year-old girl is kidnapped, and the husband becomes a suspect.

In addition to blogging on this website, I have written for publications such as Black Catholic Messenger, America Magazine, Grotto Network, Critical Theology Journal, Catholic Worker, and US Catholic.

When I’m not writing or working, I’m enjoying time spent with my husband, three wonderful sons, and a great daughter. On my blog, I write about faith, family, and writing.

Thanks for stopping by, and stay tuned.  The best is on its way."

My Thoughts

Last Place Seen by Alessandra Harris is a story of a young couple in California during a wildfire. Tianna Williams and her husband are struggling. She is trying to work enough just to pay bills, her husband Jay, has not been able to find a job due to the fact he is an ex-con. It is a struggle along with raising a toddler.

One day, while Jay and his son are at Walmart, there is an announcement that they are looking for a 10-year-old girl, Zoe Miller, who has gone missing. Because Jay is an ex-con, he is one of the first to be questioned. He tries to explain that he is innocent but no one believes him. He has had some shady friendships that lead to his guilt.

Tianna wants to believe her husband and when she finds out how close she is to Zoe, she is really not sure who to believe. Her father is a district attorney who is also involved. This mystery just gets deeper and deeper and puts everyone at risk. All this while there are raging fires and a heat wave going on.

This is one of those mysteries that drags you right into it. Believable characters, some you can like and some you can hate. A plot that could be right out of the headlines.

If you love a good story, one that keeps you guessing until the end. Then this one is for you.

I give it 5 stars, the writing is exceptional!

I received a copy of the book for review purposes.
