  • Dishwasher safe coffee container, stylish design with transparent lid, large cord storage, and powerful motor make this grinder a great addition to your kitchen.

My Thoughts
I received the MIRA Electric Spice and Coffee Grinder for review and was not monetarily compensated for my review. When I received the box with the grinder, it was packed very well with lots of packing material.

We are coffee snobs here at the Kelly household and nothing but the best coffee will we drink. That said, coffee beans that are freshly ground are the best, in my opinion. With the MIRA coffee grinder, you can grind up just what you need for a pot of coffee, or for cup using the many different single cup coffee makers out there on the market. If you don't mind coffee grounds that are in a container for awhile, then with this grinder you can grind up a lot. I would suggest that keeping your ground up coffee in the freezer keeps the grounds much fresher.

Hubby used the grinder first, and I watched, to grind up some coffee beans that our daughter had purchased for us. I then used it to grind up a cinnamon stick. I like to save money wherever I can and grinding up your own spices is the way to go. I did have to break the cinnamon stick into pieces so they would fit into the cup part. I ground the cinnamon into a grainier powder then you typically find in the stores. All you need to do is keep grinding until your desired consistency. What I liked about the grinder is that it comes in three parts, I used to have a grinder that was only two parts, the lid and the grinder itself. This made cleaning difficult because I was afraid to get water in the motor. This grinder from MIRA cleans up nice. The lid and the cup are easy to wash and put back together. Along with the grinder is a cleaning brush, not just a teeny tiny brush that you find in other grinders, but a brush that resembles a painter's brush. (see above picture).

So what did I think? I found this coffee and spice grinder to be the perfect addition to my kitchen. I have been extremely happy with all the MIRA products that I have reviewed. If you are in the market for a quality product, then look no further, this is the coffee grinder that you want.

Again, I received the MIRA coffee grinder free for my honest review.

My Thoughts
I received a full-size product of Stermuderm Anti-Wrinkle Treatment for review at no cost to me. That said, I have been using in now for a few weeks now at night before bed. You only need a little, and that goes a long way. I did notice a difference in the lines on my forehead and neck. I recently lost a considerable amount of weight, and it shows in my neck area.

With the continued use, I have noticed a difference, not necessarily more toned, but a little less noticeable. It took 62 years for my skin to get the way it is, and changes don't happen overnight, but I think with using Stemuderm Anti-Aging Treatment, it will help.

It goes on smoothly and is not greasy or heavy at all. It dries quickly and softens immediately. A quality product. Like I said I only do it once a day, but I think if you wear a lot of makeup, putting it before would also be beneficial. I really like it.

Author Jeff Gunhus

Jeff Gunhus is the author of the Amazon bestselling supernatural thriller, Night Chill, and the Middle Grade/YA series, The Templar Chronicles. The first book of the series, Jack Templar Monster Hunter, was written in an effort to get his reluctant reader eleven-year old son excited about reading. It worked and a new series was born. His book Reaching Your Reluctant Reader has helped hundreds of parents create avid readers. Killer Within is his second novel for adults. As a father of five, he and his wife Nicole spend most of their time chasing kids and taking advantage of living in the great state of Maryland. In rare moments of quiet, he can be found in the back of the City Dock Cafe in Annapolis working on his next novel. If you see him there, sit down and have a cup of coffee with him. You just might end up in his next novel.

Excerpt 2
Eva lifted her nose in the air, picking up a scent.
“What is it?” I asked.
But it was T-Rex who answered. “That’s rabbit stew, is what that is.”
I sniffed the air. He was right. I smelled food of some kind. The sweet aroma of carrots mixed with earthy potatoes and root vegetables. I couldn’t tell if it was rabbit stew like T-Rex claimed, but I wouldn’t have bet against him.
“Could be a trap,” Daniel said.
“Okay, let’s drop the act,” I said. “Swords.”
All of us pulled our weapons, some of us slower than others. Xavier and T-Rex both got theirs twisted in their shirts but eventually got them out and went on guard.
“We know you’re there,” I called to the woods around us. “Come out and show us that –”
Ziiiizzz, Thwack
An arrow flew an inch over my head and buried itself into the tree behind me.
“Take cover,” I yelled.
I ran to the trees, pulling Xavier with me. Another arrow slammed into the ground in front of me. I changed direction, but another arrow let loose and again dug into the soil, kicking up dirt and leaves.
I got the point. This wasn’t someone missing. It was someone sending me a very clear message. Stop moving or I’ll shoot you.
A quick glance around showed me the others fared no better. There were arrows sticking from the ground and trees all around us, but none of us were hit.
“Okay,” I called out. “We get it.”
“Weapons down,” came a high-pitched voice in the tree above us.
I looked up and saw a flutter of movement among the leaves, but then it was gone.
“Weapons down, I said,” came the voice again. “Or I’ll put an arrow in the fat one’s tummy.”
“Is he talking about me?” T-Rex asked. “I’ve actually lost a bit of weight, you know.”
I put my sword on the ground in front of me and motioned for everyone to do the same. We all had backup weapons stashed on our bodies – throwing knives, stars, daggers and the like – so I wasn’t too worried about giving up my sword. Daniel caught my eye. He had his hand on the Templar Ring as if he was about to pull it from his finger. I felt a surge of excitement that I could wear it again. But that would also mean we’d have to deal with an out of control werewolf in our midst.
I shook my head. I figured if whoever or whatever was in the trees wanted us dead, then they would have already taken a shot at us.
“Who are you?” came the voice again. “What are you doing here?”
“We’re travelers seeking shelter for the night, maybe a warm meal,” I said, speaking the words every monster hunter knew by heart. It was the way members of the Black Guard identified themselves. “We ask for your hospitality. Have we come to the place where such kindness is freely given?”
There was an excited chattering of voices in the trees, and then a person fell from the sky, hitting the ground with a solid thump. Then another. And another. Finally, I counted an even dozen of them even though I wasn’t sure what they were.
They were half-sized men, the tallest only a little higher than my waist. They all carried bows as big as they were, cradled in rough, thick hands and muscled arms. Their bodies were stout and clad in flexible leather armor studded with small squares of iron in decorative patterns. What made them creepy was that while their bodies looked like they belonged to middle-aged men, their faces bore the smooth features of someone no more than nine or ten years old. While their arms and necks were wrinkled and tanned with time, their faces were pale and their eyes looked too shiny, like they were on the edge of crying. Still, their faces looked blank, so I didn’t think they were emotional about anything. All I knew was that my skin crawled as their moist eyes looked me over.
“So who is it that asks the old question in the old way?” the one nearest us asked. “We’d like to know that very much.”
All twelve of them nodded in unison as they moved closer to us. I fought a sudden impulse to flinch back. I’d suddenly realized what was so odd about them. All of them had the same face.
I didn’t notice at first because some of them wore their hair differently, some wore helmets, and others had scars from some long ago battle. But once I looked for it, there was no mistake. All the faces were the same.
“Just travelers looking for rest,” Eva said. If these strange beings unnerved her, then she was better at hiding it than I was. But the fact that she jumped in to make sure I didn’t tell these strange creatures our names told me she wasn’t comfortable either.
“Can I ask your name, friend?” Daniel asked.
A different one of them stepped forward. “We are the Talib. As for names, you can ask. We can ask. But will the answers and truth be told? Think not, we do.”
“Great, we ran into a herd of Yodas,” Will said under his breath.

10 Day Virtual Book Blog Tour for Adventures of Princess Janai and the Warrior Maidens of Quinu by Sherel Ott!!

Today Celticlady's Reviews is pleased to present the Adventures of Princess Janai and the Warrior Maidens of Quinu: The Cities of Tonga and Tongia, explore with me what the book is about and how author Sherel Ott comes up with the characters! Plus enter the three prize giveaway! Entry form is at the end of the post. Thank you!

About Adventures of Princess Janai and the Warrior Maidens of Quinu: The Cities of Tonga and Tongia

All Janai wants is to be just like everyone else. Being the Princess and having to try out for the Warrior Maidens is just part of her problems. She has the present Warrior leader unhappy with the fact that she is trying out, because that means her time is almost up and she enjoys her “status” too much to give it up without a fight. Not to mention someone just froze two of her guards into living statues with the fabled Mist Flowers of Tonga. Now she and a small group of warriors must travel to a forbidden city and obtain the antidote before the two guards are lost forever…all in 24 hours. Is she capable? Will she make it in time?

How Sherel Creates The Characters

Once I formulate a storyline, the next item for me to do is to determine how many characters are to be developed and which ones will be returning. For those that are returning, I either leave them as is or develop/evolve them more based on how I want the story to go. For the new characters, first thing I do is formulate their general physical characteristics to get them to become real in my mind. Once I have their general characteristics; hair color, skin color, body shape and height, I start to develop their personalities.

I then move on to their personalities and formulate how do they perceive themselves; not necessarily good or bad, but what do they feel about themselves. Then I develop a small biography for each of the characters, in order to give them depth and believability for me; then they begin to come alive in my mind. I start to hear their voices and see how their bodies’ move with different emotions. This also gives me a chance to get a sense of how their mind and thought processes work. As each new character develops, I see how they might interact with each other; whether they will get along, become good friends, dislike one another or just tolerate one another. To form a type of tentative relationship that will either grow or dissolve as the story goes on. As the story unfolds, their characters and behaviors flush out and develop even more. As they interact with each other, their personality comes out making you want to like them, hate them and/or love hating them. Sometimes, to get the reader to become a little more invested in the characters, I will add a little side story of their background so the readers can get a better sense of who they are and where they are coming from. Sometimes a person who comes across as bad may not really be bad but, acting on issues that had occurred to them or emotions that had been drilled into them helping to form who they have become.

In book 1, The Adventures of Princess Janai and the Warrior Maiden of Quinu: The Cities of Tonga and Tongia, I developed a background story of the Goddess and the High Priestess to allow the readers to see that even the Gods have emotions and problems that sometimes they are helpless to change or alter. That they too have to learn lessons and perseverance in order to live and grow into better and stronger people. Before The Goddess Ariana and High Priestess Jinjura became who they are, they were one of many Minor Deities in their own home world. They had siblings who were jealous of them and wanted to do them harm, but know that they couldn’t outright harm them, they did the next best thing. They separated them. Ariana and Jinjura were twin goddesses that alone could do some good, but together they were phenomenal. Their powers feed each other and made them stronger physically but if one were to die, the other would soon die as well. They had a symbiotic relationship even though Ariana’s was more powerful. She was such a person that she made her sister feel equally powerful, and when Jinjura was taken away, they both realized how powerless they were without the other. Jinjura had to realize that her powers and abilities were nothing compared and without her sisters and that to survive, she was going to have to learn to do things differently. She had to learn to stand on her own two feet and make a way for herself without her sister’s assistance. Ariana learned that even though she was the most powerful between them, she needed her sister’s constant flow of love (which was a powerful energy force) and positivity to sustain her; without them she became very weak, depressed and apathetic. When they reunited, you could see through Parrchina’s eyes how much Jinjura’s features changed when the sister’s souls joined once more and marveled at how their own siblings would want to cause these two so much harm.

In Book 2, “Spider, Spiders! Does Size Matter?!?” you will meet Amanthia, who is being teased by the other warriors in Princess Janai’s group about her size. Even though she seems to be handling it in stride, The Goddess let’s Janai see just how much she really is affected by it and what she has gone through; even from her own family. She allows Janai to be inside Amanthia’s mind as she goes through the teasing and ridicule from her family and how she felt when they didn’t bother to look for her or come to her induction ceremony. You will also meet The Queenling Denahi, and see how she feels about her size in comparison to her people. Each has the same problem but in opposite direction…Amanthia wishes she could be more diminutive like her family and Denahi wishes she was bigger as all the ruling Queens have been. Each having similar problems but in the end, help each other out.

About Sherel Ott:
An eclectic collector of animation movies, Sherel Ott is a writer of fantasy and romance stories. One day while watching an animated movie, she noticed that there weren’t a lot of movies or books with girls of color in leading roles…as heroines, adventurers or with strong moral characters and wondered… Where were the influential leaders, doctors, lawyers or royalty of color? Why weren’t there any strong black female characters where a girl of color could be proud of her skin color and the type of person representing and say … “I want to be like her!” Wanting something more for her own nieces to look up to and strive to emulate, other than what girls of color were currently being portrayed as or should settle for is how her book initially took form. She wanted to show that there are black princesses, warriors, adventurers of all walks of life. That she should be and can be recognized for what she does and who her true self is, not be prejudged by what color her skin was.
As a fan of all fantasy, magical, mystical, celestial and other worldly creatures, Sherel began reading sci-fi/fantasy stories at a young age.
"I have always been a sci-fi and fantasy type of person. I always felt as a child that I belonged in those types of worlds rather than here. Reading them had always been my way of escaping from my shyness as a child." Sherel Ott. She had started collecting fairies of all types and now has a mini collection of collectible faery ornament to decorate her Christmas tree every year.
Sherel creates her stories first by writing them out and then typing them on the computer. She feels she gets her inspiration greatest when she writes and from nature itself. She strives to present her stories in a way that anyone can relate and identify with no matter how old or young...with a little fun, a little action/adventure, yet with a hidden message. Writing since the age of 14, her first published book--Adventures of Princess Janai and the Warrior Maidens of Quinu: The Cities of Tonga and Tongia -- brings a story of strong African American females. It's an adventure series particularly geared towards girls, although boys will also find it an enjoyable read.

When Sherel is not writing, she is working as a full-time Family Nurse Practitioner and has been so for the past 17 years. She presently resides in Felton, DE.

Easter Sunday by Thomas Hollyday Spotlight!

Today it is my pleasure to feature Easter Sunday, by Thomas Hollyday. This is the 7th book in the River Sunday Romance Mystery series!!

A father’s strange fear may kill his son.

Hank Green’s young son, Bobby, is trapped somewhere in a cave beneath the water-drenched swamp of the Chesapeake Bay. He was exploring an unsolved World War Two mystery. Even worse, a powerful Easter Sunday storm with its flood surge is coming up. Hank rushes to join the team of experienced local firemen and friends who will try to find and rescue his son. Yet he feels once again his own numbing personal terror. He is overcome by a lifelong claustrophobic fear of entering closed spaces like caves. It’s a phobia he inherited from his immigrant father, a displaced person from the 1945 European war and his own Vietnam experience. He knows if the others lose hope and fail, he will go on alone and risk his life to save his child. He must find a way to conquer his weakness and time is running out. Easter Sunday, Book Seven of the River Sunday Romance Mysteries, is the latest of this acclaimed Chesapeake series by Thomas Hollyday.  The author’s unique voice once again gives us an exciting read about the people, their beliefs and legends, and the grasping mud and black water wetlands of this mysterious American region.

Excerpt from Easter Sunday:

“It was the day before Easter Sunday.
Bobby looked up from his grandfather’s letter. He folded the pages and stared angrily at his father, Hank Green, who was beside him. Since opening this long-awaited letter, to be read only on his twelfth birthday, the boy’s face had changed from anticipation to disappointment. Bobby took another moment to examine a pointed black metal object attached to the last page. It looked like a small black crucifix. Bobby inserted all back in the envelope.

Hank watched with growing concern as Bobby crushed the letter into the pocket of his jeans. A white corner showed from under his oversize black and orange Brooks Robinson baseball shirt.

The boy, thin and tall from baseball practice, turned to leave. He said slowly to himself, “Not never.” “Not never,” he repeated with emphasis, scuffing the wood floor of his father’s store. He strode outside, knocking over one of the carefully arranged pots of Hank’s prized white daffodils. Bobby stopped for a moment, bent down and set the pot back on its shelf.

The boy reached the street outside and stood silhouetted in the hazy sunlight.
Dark clouds grew in the southern sky. His friends waited on their bicycles. Cathy Allingham, another twelve-year-old, rangy and tall, yelled in her tough voice, “Hey, what did the letter say? Did your grandfather leave you some money for your birthday? Are you going to get a boat?”

Bobby pedaled off without answering her, and she followed, barely keeping up. The other friend, Richard Solomon, a chunky black boy, rushed after his friends, puffing weakly, “Wait up, you guys, wait up.”

Hank, still surprised, ran to the door, calling down the tree-lined street. The children pedaled more than a hundred yards away. He called again, “Bobby, we have to talk about this. Come back!”

The boy either didn’t hear or didn’t intend to stop.
Hank looked after him.

Whatever my father wrote was wrong. Twelve is too young to spring something distasteful on a kid.

Not more than two hours later, the fire alarm went off.

During Hank’s childhood, always when he heard that siren, he thought that his father, who had been Chief of the Volunteer Firemen, would be in danger. After Bobby’s birth, however, Hank changed his focus. He began to worry that instead it was Bobby who might be in danger.

Hank listened as two rescue trucks roared out of town. He shook his head again about Bobby’s disappointment and anger at the letter. A few minutes later, he sat at his desk planning his annual stroll through town. He had done this for years. He had given daffodils to the town parks and took his walk to photograph them in the spring when they bloomed. He was a gardener, like his father had been, an average height, handsome man approaching middle age, still with all his hair and possessing a strong body kept tough by his outdoor work. He thought about the past years, his former wife, his young son, Bobby, his father and mother now gone, his friends, and the steady life he had found here. A song ran through his mind about the green grass of home, an old Vietnam song.

The phone rang, and the town fire alarm went off again, the two echoing against each other.

The police dispatcher was on the line. “It’s your son, Mr. Green. There’s been an accident at the Wilderness.”

Hank’s stomach lurched. All his concerns came back, the alarm ringing a tardy reminder that he should have gone after Bobby when his son left in such a distraught mood. He glanced at the wall clock as he ran through the store. Seven o’clock. It would soon be dark at the Wilderness, almost night. He grimaced as he thought of the letter again, that somehow it might have caused Bobby’s accident, made him careless, and affected his judgment.

Outside it had begun to rain. In a few moments, Hank was on the way, leaning over the steering wheel of his old white delivery truck. Its headlights shone weak in the road shadows, the engine racing as fast as it could.”

 The Author
Thomas Hollyday brings to life the modern Chesapeake in his fictional shipbuilding town of River Sunday, a place located at a crossroads of today’s world. Reviewers praise his storytelling, with its rich sense of place, animals, and nature coupled with a vibrant imagination. His unique voice resonates with a deep awareness of history, reminiscent of Michener and Follett.  He describes how from pre-history to the present, marauders have disturbed the Chesapeake land, and its people when tribes, pirates, soldiers, criminals and, some say, even ghosts have come to do evil. His novels have been compared to “pocket battleships,” with interwoven story lines, intriguing mysteries, beautiful love affairs, and unique characters in carefully scripted pages. There is humor too as Tom draws on a comedic sense honed from an accomplished cartoonist background. In addition, his long experience in international trade and manufacturing have developed his understanding of the human character. As a result, critics praise his ability to take the reader into thrilling suspense and to make him or her “see the blood” and “breathe the swamp air.”  His books are a knowledgeable and enjoyable sojourn into the mysterious and fascinating world of the Chesapeake, its people, legends, and beliefs, and are definitely must reads on today’s bookshelf.
