About V Frank Asaro

V Frank Asaro is a lawyer, musician, composer, inventor and theorist who also authored the non-fiction book A Primal Wisdom 2d. – Nature’s Unification of Cooperation and Competition published in 2015. He began developing the theory of co-opetition not long after he was selected out of law school as lawyer-clerk to the California District Courts of Appeal. He went on to receive the highest-category law career peer review, Pre-eminent Martindale Hubbell rating, and appeared in Who's Who in American Law, and Who's Who in the World. Engaged in litigation most of his career, he honed skills proving or disproving facts and stories--a handy talent for a novelist. Moreover as a patent holder, he shows a creative knack. · “By my definition, competition is akin to chaos/separation/repulsion; it’s something taken away from something else; it’s separation and division. You could say it’s similar to dissonance. On the other hand, cooperation is a form of giving, akin to uniting. It’s order/attraction. It unites and combines …. It is consonance.”

From the estuary they entered an arena of small islands, hundreds of them; some with beaches of white sand, others of shell, others of black sand or gravel or rock. All were crowned with thick foliage and bustling with animals. As the boat turned through them, hugging first one shore after another, flocks of startled gulls and pelicans flapped away over the water and monkeys jumped comically from springing branches.

Born in Chicago and raised in Kansas City, Mark Bois is of Belgian and Irish ancestry. It is perhaps natural, then, that he would develop a fascination with the First Battalion of the 27^th Foot, an Irish regiment, at the Battle of Waterloo. He would eventually return to school to earn a Master’s degree in history, writing his thesis on the Inniskilling Regiment in 1815.

Amongst the dusty rosters and letters in the British National Archives, and then in the artifacts and records of the Inniskilling Regimental Museum, he found what he needed to write his thesis, but he also discovered the fascinating personal stories that provided the basis for Lieutenant and Mrs. Lockwood. Many actual experiences of the men and officers of the 27^th Foot were pulled from those sources to be used in the novel.

Like Lt. Lockwood, Mark is the father of five, and has been happily married to their exceptional mother for more than thirty years. When not working, writing, or reading, he trains for indoor rowing regattas, where he enjoys only moderate success. He also builds furniture and remodels his house, though he is increasingly devoted to weekend naps.

The short, dark man bent over the flower and inhaled. Its perfume was hardly noticeable against the thick, heady aroma of the conservatory, but he enjoyed the ritual in any case. Turning, his gaze swept around the chamber. It was still impressive, even though he was intimately familiar with its contents after years of visits.

The conservatory was housed in a structure that resembled a vast, egg-shaped bubble, perfectly smooth and of an opaque greyish white. The curved inner surface seemed to glow slightly, emitting light. It was surprisingly soothing, this gentle glow. The man absent-mindedly fingered the metal badge on his robe as he looked over the greenery around him.

He turned back to the flower, and picked up a slender-handled instrumentfrom next to the pot. He lifted it toward the plant …

… and doubled over in agony as a wave of pain crashed through his mind. All sensation was blocked as he fell, not noticing his impact with the ground. His right arm toppled the table and the plant fell to the floor, its earthenware container smashed. The metal tool clattered along the wooden flooring, its indicator lights flashing.

Waves of colours were moving through the man’s mind, and beyond them he could sense a shape, or concept. It eluded him, but he felt drawn toward it.

Just as it was starting to take form, the screaming stopped. Reality flooded back in.

Despite the residual pain, the man dragged himself to his feet and set the table upright. Leaning against it, he touched his badge again and closed his eyes.

In a moment, he felt the Controller’s mind. It, too, was tinged with shock and surprise.

‘What was that?’ came the Controller’s mental reply, the niceties of formal address lost in the aftermath of the event. ‘I blacked out … we all did …’

The robed man gathered his swirling uncertainties together and hid them behind a mental shield of confidence.

‘Notify all agents,’ he replied. ‘We have found him. This must be the one’.

About the Author

Regan discovered the joy of writing at the tender age of twelve. Her first two novels were teen fiction romance. She then got sidetracked into the world of computer programming and travelled extensively visiting twenty-seven countries.

The Book

About the Author

Mark Mahon started out at a young age and successfully completed examinations with the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. At the age of 22, he was severely injured in an accident and had to spend several months in hospital. Confined to a wheelchair for three years, Mark turned his passion for movies to writing feature films.

In 2005, he won the 'Best Screenplay Unproduced' Award at the Action On Film Ceremony in Los Angeles for 'Freedom Within The Heart'. Soon after, 'Hollywood Scriptwriter' magazine carried a two-page article on his achievement.

In 2006, Mark set about writing, producing and directing his debut feature, Strength & Honour starring Michael Madsen, Vinnie Jones & Richard Chamberlain.

In 2007, he made the cover of Hollywood Scriptwriter and was honoured by the AOF by having 'The Mark Mahon Award of Excellence in Writing' named after him. Later the same year, Strength & Honour won the 23rd Boston Film Festival and he was nominated for an Irish Film and Television Academy award.

In 2008, many more honours followed for his first feature. Amongst them was the film's selection by the Beijing Olympic Council and the Chinese Film Archive to open their 'Sports Film Screening Week.' The film was to notch up 24 wins and over 36 nominations/official selections from festivals around the world, including some of the world's most prestigious, non-competitive festivals such as Cairo, Cambridge, Portugal, Moscow, Rome, Seville, and Shanghai.

In 2009, Strength & Honour was selected to screen at the Writers Guild of America and later the same year, Michael Madsen and Mark Mahon appeared on NBC's TODAY show in New York.

In 2010, Mark was hosted by Prince Albert of Monaco to a Royal screening of his film at the Palace of Monaco for the Royal family.

Mark is a member of the Irish Film and Television Academy and Screen Directors Guild of Ireland. He currently has a slate of various movie projects at different stages of development and is planning his next feature film.
