Review

I don't read a lot of cozy mysteries, they have to really catch my eye for the cover and the plot. A Disguise to Die For is one that I picked up gladly. A story that takes place in a small town outside of Las Vegas. The main character, Margo Tamblyn comes back to her hometown to help with the family costume shop, Disguise DeLimit. Her father Jerry has had a heart attack and is out of commission for awhile and it is up to Margo to handle the shop.

Not too long after she arrives to help out when a young man, Blitz Manners, comes into the shop demanding that she provided him with costumes for a party. This party is detective themed, he tosses an envelope with $20,000 at her. Even though she tells him that it is impossible to do this at such a short notice. The venue that he had originally booked had some issues and could not do it. With the help of a lifelong family friend, Ebony, they set about compiling a list of characters costumes that they can whip together quickly. 

The party kicks off with everyone in their detective costumes such as Sherlock Holmes, Rockford, Columbo and Miss Marple among others. Margo goes into the kitchen of the venue, to find her friend Ebony clutching a knife over the dead body of Blitz Manners. Things don't look too good for Ebony and Margo sets about playing detective becoming more and more embroiled into the mystery. In trying to keep the shop going, playing detective and handling a possible love interest, plus worrying about her father, she finds that this murder is very involved in that there are a lot of possible suspects.

I loved the character of Margo, a quirky costume wearing woman, whose devotion to her father is endless. She also truly believes that Ebony did not commit this murder, but the clues keep stacking up against her. I read this book in a few sittings and I honestly could not figure out who the murderer was until almost the end. I look forward to reading more of this quirky series!

"How do you like our campus so far Kyle?" Kyle smiled benignly at my mother. He looked as innocent as a choirboy. Meanwhile, under the table, his foot was brushing mine. He just shook his head, leaning against my doorframe. "Why not? You know I can still see those perfect tits of your, Bellie. Your nipples are practically poking a hole through that sweater." I gasped. "My father will hear you!" He grinned. "No. He won't." He stepped into my room and I stepped backwards until my back was against the wall. He loomed over me, saying nothing. Then he ran his hands over my shoulders, deliberately brushing my breasts with his forearms. "Did I do that to you, Miss Priss?" I opened my mouth but no words came out. He was making me confused dammit! And he had done this to me... without even touching me, I was aroused like never before. Well, like only once before anyway. "Meet me tomorrow after practice at my dorm. Unless you want me to tell your father you've been breaking all his precious rules." I glared at him. "Blackmail? Really?" He nodded slowly. "I will stoop to anything to get what I want, Bellie. What we both want." I inhaled sharply as he leaned forward, his lips brushing my ear. I closed my eyes, feeling my heart thud in my chest. This is probably the third or fourth book I have read by Joshua Graham. When you pick up one of his novels, you are sure to be in for a thrilling ride. Latent Image is about terrorism, a former operative out for revenge against the US and the president in particular. 

President Jennifer Bradley has recently lost her husband to cancer and has a young child to raise. She is upset as well as her son, that she is not able to spend a lot of time with him. When a virus is let loose onto the unsuspecting populace and a video is sent to her issuing demands, she realize she is in for a long siege. It is a race against time, trying to find the terrorist. The terrorist is working alone in his quest for revenge, not caring who may get in the way. 

Xandra Carrick is a photographer who is sent to the White House to be the official photographer, after the previous one was killed. She has two roles, that of a photographer and the other as a clandestine operative assistant. She was chosed for the later because of her second sight abilities. Hopefully she is able to ferret out the terrorist before people become infected with this virus.

Because the terrorist's demands were not met in a timely fashion, the president is infected, the terrorist was able to get on White House grounds with the use of drones. Now it definitely is a race against the clock, the virus attacks quickly with the symptoms being akin to having rabies. Infection is swift and there is no antidote. President Bradley is determined to find this terrorist and stop him before it is too late.

All I can say is wow, what a story, with terrorism being so prevalent across the world, this plot is definitely believable. I loved the characters, especially Xandra and the president's son. This book is a page-turner for sure, and when I am brought to tears during a book, it is a goodie. I give this book 5 stars for sure!
