Now, things have gotten worse and Annabelle must do something—before things get ugly…
EXCERPT:
I walked down the stairs and towards Kingsley. He was wearing a blue button-down shirt with a thick black jacket over it and dark jeans. His hair was brushed down and spiked slightly in the front and his eyes were shining. He must have been excited because he was practically bouncing up and down. I fed off his enthusiasm and walked quickly toward him.
When I opened the door, Kingsley walked up to me and gave me a light kiss on the cheek. “You look even more beautiful than the last time I saw you.”
“Thanks.” I took the flowers he offered to me and realized I had no idea what to do with them. Did I take them with me? I didn’t have a vase or anything to put them in. I was going to kill the first set of flowers a boy had ever given me. As my mind started to swim, Kingsley held up his backpack.
“I thought you might need this.”
I reached out to take his bag and he quickly pulled it away.
“Uh, sorry. I don’t like people touching my bag. Just hold on a second.” He unzipped the main pocket. Inside was a beautiful glass vase. “I didn’t think you would have brought one of these to your dorm, so I went out and got one.”
“You’re right, I didn’t have one. Let me take these upstairs and put the flowers in some water.”
“Great, I’ll come with you.” He took my hand and opened the door for me. We walked hand in hand to the bathroom to fill the vase with water, and then to my room. Geez, was I grateful that I had nervously cleaned earlier, or this would have been really embarrassing.
“It’s nice that you have a single. You don’t have to worry about a nosey roommate or anything like that.”
“I like that I can set everything up the way I like. For example,” I said, and placed the flowers in the middle of my desk, “I like the flowers there and I don’t need anyone else’s opinion, well, expect yours. Do you think they look good there?”
He laughed lightly and ran his hand down my cheek. “Yes, they look perfect. I’m glad you like them.”
I smiled up at him as my pulse raced. He was standing very close to me and I could feel his breath on me. He was going to kiss me. I held my breath and closed my eyes, willing myself not to panic. His lips brushed mine gently and the butterflies in my stomach settled. It felt right kissing him.
Kingsley pulled away before the kiss could heat up and he smiled at me. “I didn’t want to wait until the night was over to kiss you. To tell you the truth, I’ve wanted to kiss you since I helped you got a hole in one last night. It was such a turn-on knowing I’d helped you do that.”
I forced a smile. This was definitely not the time to remind him that I actually already knew how to play. Instead, I did the one thing I could think of to change the subject. I placed my hand on the back of his neck and pulled him in for another kiss.
His hands snaked around my waist and he pulled me closer to him. He licked my lip a little and begged me to open to him. As soon as I did, I practically melted in his arms. Kingsley took control of the kiss and taught me a thing or two. I fought desperately to keep up with him as the kiss became intense. It wasn’t long before I caught up, realizing how easy it was to kiss him.
Suddenly, Kingsley pulled away but hugged me tightly. “If we continue this, I can promise you that we will miss our reservation, and that green dress looks too good on you to stay in. I want to show you off.”

Texas Banker/Oklahoma Hunter by Ken Mixon Book Spotlight!

Who do you think of when you think of a banker? Perhaps you think of the bankers trying to foreclose on Kevin Costner's farm in Field of Dreams? Bankers are usually portrayed as jerks who are trying to foreclose on widows and orphans. I have been a banker for nearly forty years and I want to show you some different sides to one banker - me.
I come from a family of story tellers, from my father's mother's family, the Gillhams. When a Gillham told a story at the campfire, you could feel the heat of the sun beating down and hear the calling of an owl just as if you were there.
The stories in this book are half from banking and half from my hunting, my dogs, and my childhood. Some of the stories are humorous, some are serious, and some are a little of both. As you read, you will hopefully share my puzzlement as I listen to a loan request, feel the pounding of a buck's hooves on the dirt as it gallops toward me, and hear my father's whistle. If you do, I have accomplished my goal in writing this book. http://www.kenmixontexasbanker.com/

Ken Mixon was raised in Atoka, Oklahoma and graduated from Atoka High School in 1974. He attended Oklahoma Baptist University and graduated in 1977 with a degree in business administration. The History of Hilary Hambrushina by Marnie Lamb Blog Tour and Giveaway!

The History of Hilary Hambrushina
Marnie Lamb
Publication date: May 31st 2017
Genres: Contemporary, Young Adult

Hilary has one goal for her first year in junior high: to become popular. But her plans are turned upside down when her best friend leaves for the summer and a quirky girl named Kallie moves in next door. Kallie paints constellations on her ceiling, sleeps in a hammock, and enacts fantastical plays in front of cute boys on the beach. Yet despite Kallie’s lack of interest in being -cool, – Hilary and Kallie find themselves becoming friends. That summer friendship, however, is put to the test when school begins, reigniting Hilary’s obsession with climbing the social ladder. As Hilary discovers the dark side to popularity, she must decide who she wants to be before she loses everything.
Read and Excerpt!
Kallie’s room was the first on the left. Swinging open the door, she spread her arms out and said, “Ta-da!”

Although I was expecting something unusual, I wasn’t prepared for what greeted me. The walls and ceiling were black, and the ceiling had a pattern of white dots and lines that reminded me of the night sky. A huge hammock stretched like a crescent moon between two walls. Some sort of rope-and-wheel apparatus that looked like something we’d built in science class last year was attached to the wall and ceiling above the ends of the hammock. In front of the window was a telescope pointed outside. At
least a hundred stuffed animals sat against the walls, and books and clothes lay scattered on the floor.
“What do you think?” asked Kallie proudly.
I didn’t know what to say. It was the strangest room I’d ever been in, but also the most interesting. I thought of my own room, with the shiny new Damian Sámos poster (the same one as Lynn’s) on one wall and the old wallpaper my dad still hadn’t taken down on the other. The wallpaper had faceless Victorian ladies holding flowered parasols, and I loved it — when I was six. Then there was the squeaky hinge on my closet door (another thing my dad hadn’t fixed). Even my new lavender chenille bedding, which I’d begged my mom to buy, looked so boring compared to Kallie’s room.
Finally I mumbled, “I’ve never seen anything like it.”
“Really? Fantastic! I wanted to make it unique.”
“Is that the night sky?” I asked, looking at the ceiling.
“Yeah. Those are the constellations. Razi and I finished painting them last night.”
I stared at her. “You painted them? You mean it’s not wallpaper?”
“No, but if you thought it was, it must mean we did a good job.”
“You did an amazing job!” I exclaimed. I looked around the room in awe. How could Kallie have painted such a complicated pattern? I couldn’t imagine painting a wall so well, let alone a ceiling.
Kallie was beaming. “Thanks. We did it mostly at night because we could see the sky then. We had a big map to help us during the day, but you can’t really get the feel of the stars without looking at them, you know?”
Actually I didn’t. I’d never thought about that before.
“But the real reason I asked you to come over,” said Kallie, grinning, “was because I was wondering if you wanted to help me paint stuff on the walls.”
For the first time, I noticed that the walls had no patterns on them. “You want me to help paint your room?” I was surprised and kind of honoured. After all, she barely knew me. “O.K.”
“Great! Stay there!” She dashed out. I looked around. That’s when I realized something was missing. When Kallie came back, pushing a wooden cart with jars of paint in dozens of colours, I asked, “Uh … Kallie, where’s the bed?”
“What bed?”
“The bed you sleep on?”
“Who says I sleep on a bed?” She moved some stuffed animals to the hammock.
“Where do you sleep then?”
“In the hammock, of course.”
I was stunned. “You sleep in a hammock? Why?”
“Why not?”
“Well … isn’t it uncomfortable?” I said, starting to feel impatient. Why did she always have to answer my questions with another question?
