In the eagerly anticipated follow-up to Laurie Gelman’s “irreverent and hilarious” (The New York Post) hit Class Mom, brash, lovable Jen Dixon is back with a new class and her work cut out for her
If you’ve ever been a room parent or school volunteer, Jen Dixon is your hero. She says what every class mom is really thinking, whether in her notoriously frank emails or standup-worthy interactions with the micromanaging PTA President and the gamut of difficult parents. Luckily, she has the charm and wit to get away with it—most of the time. Jen is sassier than ever but dealing with a whole new set of challenges, in the world of parental politics and at home.
She’s been roped into room-parenting yet again, for her son Max’s third grade class, but as her husband buries himself in work, her older daughters navigate adulthood, and Jen’s own aging parents start to need some parenting themselves, Jen gets pulled in more directions than any one mom, or superhero, can handle.
Refreshingly down-to-earth and brimming with warmth, Dixon’s next chapter will keep you turning the pages to find out what’s really going on under the veneer of polite parent interactions, and have you laughing along with her the whole way.

Cade wiped his fingers on a napkin and took another big bite.
I loved watching his obvious pleasure in my baking. There was
something so sensual about the way he enjoyed eating
my desserts.

“I should be mad at you, you know.” He eyed the brownies
in the display case with a hopeful expression, so I got him
another one and added it to his plate while he downed
his glass of milk.“Why would you be mad at me? I bake
good brownies and have nice boobs, remember?”
I topped off his milk with a smile.

“That’s exactly why. I’m adding an extra two miles to
my daily run to make up for all this good eating, and
I’ve been suffering from UHO’s for days.” He took
another greedy bite of brownie.
“What is a UHO?” I frowned and put my chin in my hand,
studying him. “Should I be worried?”

“An Unexpected Hard On.” Cade delivered that line
with a perfectly straight face, but I snorted with
laughter and shook my head at him.
“Don’t laugh, missy. You try meeting with clients
while having stray thoughts about the hot baker
girl down the street. Then deal with the fallout.
I’ve had three meetings where I had to hold my
notepad in my lap to cover up the evidence.”
He picked a brownie crumb off his shirt.
“I’m so sorry for your inconvenience.”
I tried for a straight face to match his but
failed miserably.

“Don’t be sorry. I know a good remedy for
UHO’s. I’ll be soliciting your help with that
at some point.” He licked his lips in
anticipation, and I shivered.
Cade noticed my shiver, and his grin got
wider. “Now about karaoke night. It’s
tonight, actually.”

“Really? I thought it was a weekend thing.”
I took his empty plate and put it in the
dishwasher.

“I think it usually is, but when I asked the
manager at Maude’s about it, he said come
tonight, and he would get us set up. I’m noticing
things are pretty informal at Maude’s.” He drank
his milk in three big swallows, and I watched
his throat work with interest. Why was that
so sexy?
And it was even sexier when he came around
the counter and rinsed his glass before
placing it in the dishwasher, too.
I appreciated a man with a sexy body,
but one who knew how to clean up after
himself? That’s what really made me weak in
the knees. At this rate, if he started washing
dishes by hand, I might have no choice but
to strip naked for him.Cade pulled me close
and nuzzled my hair. I buried my nose
in his chest and inhaled his manly scent.
And we stayed that way for several long
minutes, just enjoying a full body hug.

This was bliss.

About Face (Love in the Suburbs #1) by D.E. Haggerty Cover Reveal!

Title: About Face (Love in the Suburbs #1) Author: D.E. Haggerty Genre:Romantic Comedy, Contemporary Romance Release Date: August 29, 2019 Cover Designer: Jeroen E. Spaan - Geared Training Hosted by: Buoni Amici Press, LLC.

My grandma is trying to hook me up. To be painfully specific, my seventy-five-year-old grandmother thinks a little hanky-panky would cheer me up. Direct quote. Since I’m currently living with her, I can’t escape the endless line of grandchildren of friends who keep ‘dropping by’ for dinner. Literally, I can’t escape. I can barely manage the trek to the dining room at this point. While Grandma’s determined to find me a husband, I’m determined to learn how to walk again so I can walk away from her matchmaking skills. Spoiler alert: She has no matchmaking skills. But then I get a brilliant idea. I can fake date my physical therapist. Only he wants a real date. Gulp. A real date with me? Is he for real? I’m no longer the stylish girl with the glamorous job. Now, I’m a woman with a shattered leg and a scarred face. If I’m going to learn to live with my new reality and give love a chance, my attitude needs to do an about face. Easier said than done.

I grew up reading everything I could get my grubby hands on, from my mom's Harlequin romances to Nancy Drew, to Little Women. When I wasn't flipping pages in a library book, I was penning horrendous poems, writing songs no one should ever sing, or drafting stories which have thankfully been destroyed. College and a stint in the U.S. Army came along, robbing me of free time to write and read, although on the odd occasion I did manage to sneak a book into my rucksack between rolled up socks, MRIs, t-shirts, and cold weather gear. After surviving the army experience, I went back to school and got my law degree. I jumped ship and joined the hubby in the Netherlands before the graduation ceremony could even begin. A few years into my legal career, I was exhausted, fed up, and just plain done. I quit my job and sat down to write a manuscript, which I promptly hid in the attic after returning to the law. But being a lawyer really wasn’t my thing, so I quit (again!) and went off to Germany to start a B&B. Turns out being a B&B owner wasn’t my thing either. I polished off that manuscript languishing in the attic before following the husband to Istanbul where I decided to give the whole writer-thing a go. But ten years was too many to stay away from my adopted home. I packed up again and moved to The Hague where I’m currently working on my next book. I hope I’ll always be working on my next book.

I started climbing at 13, survived being lost in Snowdonia at 14, nearly drowned at 15, and then joined the Army at 16. Risk and adventure was built into my DNA and I feel very fortunate to have served the majority of my working career as an intelligence officer within Defence Intelligence, and as an explosive ordnance disposal officer and military surveyor within the Corps of Royal Engineers.

I was privileged to serve for twenty-eight years in the British Army as a soldier and officer, rising through the ranks to complete my service as a major. I served across the globe on numerous military operations as well as extensive travel and adventure on many major mountaineering and exploration expeditions that I led or was involved in.

I was awarded the Geographic Medal by the Royal Geographical Society for mountain exploration in 2003 and served on the screening committee of the Mount Everest Foundation charity for many years. It was humbling after so many years of service when I was awarded the MBE for services to counter-terrorism in 2007.

From the Author

This is a favourite scene of mine that I enjoyed writing. Sean, the main character, is operating undercover, and in the guise of a weapons dealer. His mission is to turn and recruit an International model and Iranian spy, a woman called Nadege. In this scene, both of them arrive in Armenia to do a deal with a former Russian Army officer who Sean will pay for some weaponry that Nadege requires to undertake her own mission on behalf of the Iranians. It’s a scene that leads the reader to wonder what on earth will happen next – and what exactly is the weaponry that Nadege hopes will create carnage in Europe…….and where is her target?

They were chaperoned into a large office. A great office, Sean thought. Worthy of a big boss. Sean spied the hefty wooden desk at the end of a large space suitably decorated with objects of war such as swords and guns. And then then were photos on the right-hand wall of soldiers’ faces. A shrine? Were the photos perhaps of old soldiers the big boss man had fought with?‘I hope your journey was pleasant,’ the man behind the desk said, standing up to greet his guests. ‘Please take a seat.’

Sean and Nadège sat on two antique wooden chairs with a small table in front of them. ‘You are my guests and, as is my custom, I have prepared a feast for you this evening. Make yourselves comfortable please.’

Sean watched the man’s demeanor. He was a short, stocky man, perhaps with a military background judging by his style and manner. Now he was presumably a warlord and chief smuggler. Jack had not given him any background whatsoever, so Sean was still unsure how this would all pan out. The man had a crew cut, numerous grubby tattoos on his arms and a small scar across his forehead. The big boss certainly acted as such. No handshakes. Formal and welcoming, but taut. Sean watched him wave a hand to his assistant.

‘Before we do business I have a small gift for you both. We are very welcoming people in Armenia and we like to look after our guests.’ The assistant presented a silver cigarette lighter and a silver trinket case to them. Nadège saw it fit to hand the lighter to Sean and the big boss laughed. Nadège’s relaxed impetuousness during the gift swopping was an icebreaker for the new business friendship, providing Sean with some relief.
‘My name is Oleg and I served for many years in the Soviet Army. I can find and sell anything. What about you?’ he asked, pointing a long arm at Sean.

The office, located on a sliver of land along the River Hrazdan, was the base for one of the world’s most notorious nuclear smugglers, Oleg Achenco, a dual Russian-Ukrainian citizen nicknamed ‘Kapitán’. He was a fugitive wanted by the US and Moldovan authorities for attempting to sell weapons-grade uranium to Islamist terrorist groups in 2015 and 2016. One of his middlemen had been caught and shot in 2016 in a Moldovan sting operation, during which police had found the blueprints for a dirty bomb in his home. But the Kapitán escaped and set up shop in Armenia.

‘My name is Sean and I was a civil servant. I buy good-quality items now. I have brought a gift for you too.’

Sean leant into his rucksack and pulled out a full bottle of Isle of Jura whiskey. ‘One of Scotland’s finest,’ he said, placing it on his desk.

‘Thank you. I like. Now to business, my friends. My team have confirmed me the deposit has been placed in my bank account. I need assurance you will place remaining fee once I show goods. You will not be able to depart until funds are in my account. Do you understand?’

Sean nodded, fully understanding his mispronunciations of the English language, delivered with a guttural Russian accent. ‘When can we see the product?’
‘Tomorrow morning,’ the Kapitán said, lighting a cigar and opening the whiskey. His assistant brought glasses for everyone. ‘A mere mortal cannot just get his hands on this stuff you know. I needed multiple people in military to get this item. I’m glad it will be put to good use.’ Sean was glad of the walk-in GRU agent setting this up through his sources. Now that Sergei was a double agent for The Court, it opened the door to multiple operations for Jack to manage and exploit. Could this be his finest, Sean thought?

‘If you don’t mind me asking, where did you manage to get the product?’ Sean asked, knowing it was a bit brazen. But nothing ventured, nothing gained.
The Kapitán took a sip of his whiskey and drew a long breath. ‘Aaah, a fine drink my friend. I shall tell you a story and you can decide if it is true.’
