Hi De Ho, Infecterino! The Come Up by Andrew Marc Rowe Virtual Book Tour!

A riotous yet thought-provoking journey...

Title: Hi De Ho, Infecterino! The Come Up

Author: Andrew Marc Rowe

Pages: 202

Genre: Zombie/Horror/Comedy

Larry Evans was on the brink of his big break. As the lead singer of a rising rock band in 1980s London, his dream of leaving behind his small-time drug-dealing days seemed within reach. But fate—or more accurately, a freak fire and a faceful of experimental fungal spores—had other plans. Transformed into patient zero of a flesh-eating zombie outbreak, Larry unwittingly becomes ground zero for a pandemic that’s more psychedelic than apocalyptic.

The culprit? De Longeuil, a hallucinogenic fungal infection created by the brilliant but socially awkward scientist Hester. As the infection spreads, it alters not just bodies but minds, creating a hive mind of infected individuals who crave brains and challenge the limits of human evolution. Meanwhile, global leaders weigh the nuclear option, threatening to obliterate Great Britain in a desperate bid to contain the outbreak.

Enter an unlikely alliance: Larry, fighting to maintain his humanity; Starseed, the newly sentient fungal hive mind; and a ragtag crew of survivors, including Willy, an adult bookstore clerk battling his own addictions, and Ralph, whose experimental fluconazole offers a glimmer of hope but at a strange cost to her own humanity. Together, they must find a way to prove to the world that the infected aren’t mindless monsters, all while dodging fallout—both literal and figurative.

Across the Atlantic, Subject #30452—a crow gifted with sapience thanks to Parasol Industries’ sinister experiments—embarks on his own odyssey. From revenge to psychedelic enlightenment, his journey takes him to a New Jersey arcade run by a hippie named Zane, where unexpected connections begin to reshape his worldview.

Hi De Ho, Infecterino! is the first explosive installment of The Parasol Files, a mind-bending trilogy that blends apocalyptic chaos with dark humor, wild characters, and a sharp, satirical edge. Equal parts zany adventure, raunchy comedy, and biting commentary, this is a story of survival, evolution, and the absurdity of it all. Buckle up for a trippy, laugh-out-loud ride into the end of the world—and the strange possibilities it might bring.

Hi De Ho, Infecterino! The Come Up is available at Amazon.

“Carter?”

The line went dead as soon as the man sitting in the darkened office uttered the name. In the dusky light filtering in through gaudy Venetian blinds, a barely-visible haze of blue smoke wreathed the speaker’s head. He replaced the phone in its cradle, sighing as he did so. Then he pulled another draw on the cigarette. His face glowed a faint orange in the gloom.

White-haired, fat, well past the prime of his life, he had given everything he could to his career as a lawyer. At least, that was the party line he fed to others. In truth, he had given his life to himself, or at least tried to. In addition to the pounds of adipose tissue, he had the pounds Sterling to prove it - and to lose. Every single jiggling part of him had cringed before he picked up the phone to make the call to that bottom-feeding reporter, the one who had been dogging him for weeks.

Humphrey Carter: even the reporter’s name sounded made up, to go with his well-coiffed hair and plastic grin that he wore whenever he delivered his latest on the nightly news spot reserved for ‘hard-hitting investigative journalism.’ Carter was the guy who exposed an Anglican priest as a diddler with several child victims over the decades, a scandal at a pulp and paper mill involving glory holes, buggery, and married mill workers, and a former Labour MP’s connections with the Californian porn industry, among other sordid tales of perversion.

Carter might very well have been a lech himself, because all he ever did was shine a light on the dirty secrets of the local heavyweights. His latest scoop? He had discovered that Rufus Duhaim, one of the managing partners of London’s biggest corporate law firms, was living a double life,  splitting his time as a family man with the 2.3 kids and fancy apartment whilst also maintaining a loving relationship with a transgender prostitute from Germany named Greta. Or, as Duhaim’s starched-collar colleagues at the firm liked to call women like Greta, ‘tranny whore.’

The whole blackmail exchange with Carter was not surprising. For every Father Terry unmasked for the vicarious titillation of the masses, there must have been a dozen perverts still working their ‘magic’ in the closet of the various churches and freak havens like Buckingham Palace and the House of Lords. It was clear that Carter was earning well beyond the pay grade of an investigative journalist, what with the Bugatti sports car and the Italian suits that only men like Duhaim could afford. It stood to reason that Carter’s silence was for sale, and the price for said silence was a handsome one indeed.

Born and raised in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, Andrew Marc Rowe had no idea that the human psyche and the nature of reality were going to end up as his prime fascinations in life. Perhaps he had more than an inkling that he would not wake up one morning as a jock doing sports things, given his penchant for nerdiness like mythology and fantasy and science fiction, but matters of the spirit and philosophy were the furthest things from his mind as an adolescent. More his speed were the most puerile and juvenile expressions of toilet and sexual humour offered up on silver platters by stand-up comedians and nascent Internet peeps.

People grow up, though, or so Andrew has been told. His interests expanded, limited world views were shattered, horizons increased in scope. Mental health problems became intractable, psychedelic medicines and following one’s dreams were recognized for their curative powers. Atheism became raving pantheism became ‘wrong question, dude’ as Andrew found himself no longer young enough to know everything or believe anything. Instead, he finds himself writing characters who think they know everything.

If you really want to stroke Andrew’s ego, tell him you’ve never read anything like his work before. It makes his writing nearly impossible to market but at least I’ve got chicken, as young Leroy Jenkins once proclaimed to a bunch of nerds in the mid-aughts.

What’s that? You want bog-standard biographical info? Lawyer, father of one, man nearing middle age who gets his jollies pushing and bending and licking the literary envelope.

Happy?

Why is he acting like he wants something more with me?

The Angel Scroll by Penelope Holt Virtual Book Tour!

The Book

ONE ANCIENT PROPHECY, TWO HEARTBROKEN LOVERS, AND A WORLDWIDE SCAVENGER HUNT FOR THREE MIRACULOUS PAINTINGS.

After her husband’s death, New York artist Claire Lucas has baffling dreams and waking visions as she channels an enigmatic and healing painting of a holy man in India at the deathbed of a young woman. When widowed antiquarian Richard Markson announces that Claire’s canvas is one-third of three paintings prophesied by the Angel Scroll, a recently discovered Dead Sea parchment, she is pulled into an international scavenger hunt to find the stolen scroll and the paintings it predicts.

As she pursues the paintings with Richard across historic and holy sites in America, Israel, and Europe, Claire encounters a series of remarkable teachers. A Buddhist, a Benedictine monk, and a professor of early goddess worship all provide rich explanations for the artist’s compelling and perplexing psychic experiences — until she assembles the incredible triptych and deciphers its inspirational message for the modern world.

Excerpt

In Benares, India, the sweltering night dragged on. Moonlight slid through the bedroom window and bathed the young, Christlike figure who sat cross-legged on the floor. Only a loincloth covered his slender hips, and his long, coarse hair was coiled in a topknot on his crown. He’d been watching the young woman on the low bed for hours. She was feverish, her breathing shallow, as she squinted at him now through half- closed lids. Her husband held her hand and shot the young man a pleading look. “Please let her live. I’m a rich man. I can pay you. I can help the poor of Benares, the poor of India.”

“To thwart death is not to conquer it,” the young master said, and the husband buried his head in the bed’s embroidered cover. In a single, fluid movement, the holy man rose and stroked his host’s bent head, His long, graceful fingers raking the dark hair, slick with perfumed oil, revealing a channel of pale, moist scalp.

Beyond the bedroom, in the narrow hallway, the master found his three companions propped against a wall and dozing. He tapped the closest with a calloused foot, and one by one the sleeping men awoke. “Is she well now?” the tall one asked, stretching.

“She will be dead come dawn,” his master whispered, as the four men stepped into the dusty and deserted Indian night.

The phone rang. Claire woke up and realized her face was wet. She’d been crying again. She eyed the clock—9 a.m. She cleared her throat, picked up the phone, and tried to sound awake. “Hello?”

“You still sleeping?” Claire held the phone away from her ear to stop Deirdre Vetch’s whine from piercing her brain. “You’re coming to the gallery to talk about the painting, right? We must talk.” Deirdre’s verbal pummeling began.

“Ten seconds to the reveal!” the director’s sharp, businesslike voice calls out, pulling me from my thoughts. I take my place before the double doors, nerves zipping through my body like static electricity. My palms are damp, and my heart beats in triple time as I smooth down the dress, pretending to calm myself.

"In five, four..." Oh, God. It’s happening. My life is about to split into before and after.
"Three, two..." My grandmother always said, “When God closes a door, He opens a window.” Saul is my window, and I hope he never shutters.

"One, reveal!" The doors swing open, and I’m greeted by blinding light, the kind that floods a stage when the final act crescendos. My eyes take a moment to adjust, the scene before me swimming into focus. But there’s no applause, no sigh of awe from Saul as he sees me for the first time. Only silence. Deafening, gut-punching silence.

The cameras hover, eager vultures waiting for the fairy tale to unfold. But where Saul should stand, there’s only space. The champagne glasses on the loveseat remain untouched, the fizz bubbling mockingly in their flutes. “Saul?”

I whisper, the name escaping on a thread of hope that unravels into nothing. My voice echoes in the cavernous studio, unanswered. My smile freezes, tight and fragile, as whispers ripple through the crew. "Keep Rolling!" The director’s voice slices through the thick tension, and the room bursts into motion—producers barking orders, assistants scrambling to adjust the live feed, and crew members avoiding my gaze. My stomach churns, and the warmth I’d clung to moments ago evaporates, leaving only the cold sting of humiliation. Where is he?

My thoughts are a kaleidoscope of panic and confusion as I scan the room, searching for an answer. My legs feel unsteady, and my breath is shallow. I can feel the cameras, their lenses trained on me, capturing every tremble of my lips, every flicker of emotion across my face. “Stay composed, Tessa,” I murmur to myself, but it’s like trying to plug a leaking dam with my bare hands.

The producer, Gavin Turner, strides toward me with a look that makes my blood run cold. His usually confident demeanor falters, and his mouth speaks a grim line as he reaches me. “Tessa,” he says softly, his voice low, meant only for me. “We need to talk. Offstage.” “Is it about Saul?” I ask, the words barely a whisper. The answer is already written on his face, but I need to hear it. I need to understand. He nods, his gaze heavy with something I don’t want to name. “Come with me.” I follow him, my feet moving on autopilot as he leads me away from the cameras and the prying eyes.

The corridor feels colder and darker, as though I’m walking into the belly of something terrible. “Tessa, there’s been... an incident,” Gavin begins, the words struggling to find purchase. “Saul’s gone, and all he left was this note. It’s addressed to you.” The word hits me like a slap, sharp and stinging, leaving me breathless.

“Gone?” I echo, the sound foreign and disjointed. “That’s impossible. There must be some mistake.” Gavin’s expression is pained, his tablet dangling uselessly at his side. “I wish it were, Tessa. But he’s been gone since yesterday. He’s not coming .” And they’re just telling me now?

Oh, right, the show must go on; this is prime-time drama for them—a jilted fiancee-perfect. But this is what I wanted. To be the most talked about cast member of this show. Now, I’d give anything to crawl away in obscurity, Shit. The world tilts, and I grasp the wall for support, the cool surface grounding me in this incomprehensible reality.

My love story—the one I’d built in my heart and soul—crumbles before my eyes, the pieces too sharp to touch. “Tessa, I’m so sorry,” Gavin says, his hand hovering near my shoulder, unsure if comfort is possible. Tears prick my eyes, hot and unbidden, but I don’t let them fall. Not yet. Not here. The cameras may be hidden, but their ghost lingers. I won’t shatter—not where they can see.

I straighten, drawing on every ounce of strength New Orleans gave me. “Turn off the camera,” I whisper, my voice steady despite the quake in my chest. “Now!”

Gavin nods, signaling someone beyond my limited field of vision, but it takes an eternity for the red recording lights to blink out. In that span, the bustling set transforms into a frenzy. Producers scurry with headsets clutched to their ears, voices raised over the sudden cacophony.

Someone is calling for a commercial break, another is barking orders about cutting the live feed, and all the while, I'm standing here, adrift in disbelief. "Are you sure?"

My question is a whisper lost in the chaos, directed at no one and everyone at once. This can't be happening—not to Saul, not to us. But Gavin's solemn nod cuts through the noise, a silent confirmation that shatters any lingering hope.

Saul is gone, and I must face the shame of being left alone…alone. The cameras might have stopped rolling, but their lenses remain pointed at me, hungry for the moment my composure crumbles completely. I won't give them that satisfaction—not here, not with the world watching.

With trembling hands, I smooth down the vibrant fabric of my dress, a futile attempt to steady myself. Then, I run away to the comfort of a nearby dressing room. When I’m finally alone, it hits me—all of it—the betrayal, the shame, the love that feels like it’s dying in my chest.

I press my back against the door, the cool wood grounding me as the first tear spills over, carving a hot, salty path down my cheek. "Damn it, Saul," I whisper, the sound swallowed by the quiet of the room. My reflection stares back from the vanity mirror, and I hardly recognize the woman staring back at me.

My mother’s pearls around my neck catch the light, their iridescence mocking me with their perfect, unbroken form. My fingers work to unclasp the strand, the incredible weight pooling in my palm. They’re hot to the touch, reminding me of who I am— a woman rooted in strength and legacy who doesn’t crumble, no matter how heavy the storm. I close my eyes, drawing a deep breath, the scent of foundation and hairspray grounding me.

"New Orleans didn’t raise a quitter," I murmur, the mantra steadying my trembling heart. Something must be wrong. What’s in this stupid note? He loves me, and he wouldn’t do this! Would he? I opened the note with shaky resolve. In perfect block lettering, he wrote, Patrick is free. You’re better off without me. What the hell is that supposed to mean? I know what he said in the hub about what he would do if they set Patrick free, but Saul Mensah is no killer.

That’s a bit far-fetched. So, what exactly has he gone off to do without me and the promises he made? Is he calling the police? Is he relocating his grandmother and sister? Is he appealing the decision? I take a deep breath and collect myself. This is crazy. I should forget him and this ordeal and head back to New Orleans. This show will eventually air next year, and I know the cameras, the questions, the humiliation—they’ll come. But if I’m home, so will the bayou, the embrace of my city, and the unshakable truth of who I am. Still, I can’t shake the feeling of being pulled toward Saul Mensah again.

Maybe it’s fate, maybe it’s madness. But one thing is certain: I won’t leave LA until I find him and get some answers. No one plays in Tessa Baptiste’s face and gets away with it. No one.

Tootsie’s attitude hung between them, and I held my breath for a moment.

“Knock it off, Toots.” Simon’s voice was a low grumble.

“Knock what off?” She turned on him. “Showing the ladies how to live a little? That they’re not only a mom and a wife, but they’re also their own person?”

Simon grasped his wife’s upper arm. “Toots,” he warned. He turned his attention toward Bobby and Jerry. “You’ll have to excuse my wife, gentlemen. She’s become a bit too, shall we say, independent, as she gets older.”

She released a heavy sigh. “Lighten up, Simon. You say that like it’s a bad thing. I have always been independent. This isn’t the dark ages. Women have every right to be independent of men.”

Again, I agreed wholeheartedly with Tootsie, but swallowed my retort to Simon. A gift sobriety had given me. The ability to keep my mouth shut sometimes.

“Refreshments,” I said merrily as I could to lift the cloud that levitated in the room. Two guests had been smart and skittered from the room unnoticed from all except me.

“Aspen’s with Jade,” Sister Alice said as she came through the door. She quirked a brow as she scanned the guests and touched the crucifix that hung around her neck. “Do I sense tension in the room? What did I miss?”

Tootsie took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. “My husband emerging from a cave.”

Falcon Saga by Robert Winter Book Tour! @SilverDagger,#SwordsAndSorcery #FalconSaga @RobertWinterAuthor @RWinterAuthor

An elf afraid of opening his heart, and a human who is heir to an awesome power:

Only by embracing their shared destiny can they save Iceland…and each other.

Falcon Saga

by Robert Winter

Genre

Epic Fantasy

In modern-day Iceland, a place of glaciers, volcanoes, and legends, the Norns have foretold a sorcerous invasion that could destroy everything.
Magnús, an elf of the huldufólk, is driven by the murder of his human lover a century ago to save those humans he can, and to figure out what is behind recent troll attacks on tourists. But the Norns have spoken. He must protect Altair, a young human from Boston, who is bringing a dangerous magical force to Iceland. If Magnús fails to keep Altair safe, the country will fall to a sorcerer called the Black Priest. Yet if Altair lives, Magnús will meet his doom.
For his part, Altair is a graduate student bullied to visit Iceland by mentors who seem to have their own agenda. He knows nothing of elves, sorcerers or prophecies. Suddenly, the handsome, mysterious Magnús is guiding Altair around Reykjavik and into danger. A witch, a berserker, and more elves are along for the quest across Iceland’s forbidding landscape. And why does everyone keeps calling Altair “the Falcon”?
An elf and a human with a shared destiny. Will they solve the mystery linking their fates before it is too late for all Iceland?

Amazon * Bookbub * Goodreads

“Ah, the traitor pays a visit,” a voice sneered from behind Magnús, drawing him to an abrupt stop. “Killed any more of our native creatures? Are you here to find victims to persecute in your humans-first campaign?”

Magnús’s jaw tightened as he turned to face the speaker.  “Lars Berkisson. You must be desperate if you’re grubbing for supporters here.”

Lars gave Magnús a tight smile, his steel-gray eyes narrowing. “I came to offer comfort to Vörður, and to tend to his affairs while he rots in the cell where you put him. Tell me, Magnús. How many more of your own people will you try to destroy in your self-hatred?”

“Vörður put himself in that cell when he stole a human baby and tried to pass himself off as the infant. He ignored the edict laid down by Queen Hildur, risked violating the First Covenant, and in any event, the act was despicable. Changelings have been forbidden for decades.”

Lars laughed. “Of course, you and Bryndís are too modern to gather servants in the old ways. But we who honor the ancient customs have long known that if we must tolerate non-magical humans on our shores, then they are best taken as babes. Those raised from infancy make for superior attendants and retainers. The queen has been led astray by your misplaced devotion to mortals, but I have confidence she’ll return to tradition.”

Magnús clenched his jaw, determined to keep his temper. “A tradition of bigotry and false piety, pretending the gods want us to use humans as pets or chattel.”

“Well, isn’t that what Sigurjón was to you? A pet?”

The twist to Lars’s upper lip enraged Magnús. Although Lars had been back from his exile for nearly a fifth of a century, Magnús’s every encounter with him brought them close to battle. With a tremendous effort of will, Magnús refrained from pulling the dagger tucked in his belt.

“Sigurjón was as much a child of the gods as you once were, Lars,” he said through gritted teeth. “The path you follow leads to Hel’s sunless lands, though you lie to your followers and promise them Valhöll.”

Lars shook his head in a way that infuriated Magnús. “Álfheimur is the true home of our people. Those who hear my words long only for a return to the days before men invaded our shores. Before they killed our trees, stole our magic, and built their abominable cities.”

“The gods led mortals here to Iceland, Cousin. Your brand of fanaticism sets those who believe you against the will of the Æsir. And I, for one, look forward to a reckoning.”

With that, Magnús strode away. He didn’t trust himself to spend one more minute in the presence of the vile creature who had murdered his beloved Sigurjón.

Robert Winter is a recovering lawyer who likes writing about love and adventure much more than drafting a legal brief. Once upon a time, he went to Georgetown University law school. Upon graduation, he moved to New York to work in a large law firm, but later returned to Washington, DC. The legal work was entertaining and Robert spent a lot of time in bankruptcy court, usually representing either groups of creditor or the debtors themselves. But legal work didn’t satisfy the urge Robert felt to tell stories.

When he turned 50, Robert left behind the (allegedly) glamorous world of international law firms and bankruptcy court to pursue his real passion. Now he lives in Montreal with his husband, studying French between trips to exotic locations.

When Robert isn’t writing, he loves to cook Indian food. The aromas of the spice blends excite and challenge him. Although he’s never been to India, the food seems comforting and home-like. Add a trip to the Golden Triangle to the bucket list!

Bad Guy by Ana Diamond Book Blast!

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions.

Luke Daniels has done his fair share of bad things. But when the FBI offers him a deal in exchange for infiltrating the local Mafia’s infamous Costa Crew, Luke has no choice but to accept the challenge.

Beautiful, smart and tough, Sophia Costa wants out of the Crew. Appointed boss by her brother after he’s sent to prison, she wants no part in the murder, deceit and secrecy typical of Mafia life.

Just as things heat up between Luke and Sophia, a mysterious hitman targets Sophia, and Luke’s handler starts to wonder if Luke is up for the task.

As the lovers face the possibility of losing everything in order to be together, the line between loyalty and betrayal blur.

“If they find out I’m a snitch, they’ll kill me,” Luke Daniels warned Special Agent Troy Wilson.

A hole-in-the-wall diner at a rest stop in northeastern Nevada was the last place Luke thought he’d ever find himself.

The agent’s expression remained stoic. “That’s a risk we’re willing to take. It’s you who needs to decide if walking free from cyber-crime and drug trafficking charges is worth it.

“Hmm. A max sentence of twenty years versus getting killed,” Luke mused. “A lose-lose decision no matter what I decide.”

Luke relaxed his posture while rubbing the stubble on his chin as the waitress set down two cups of black coffee in front of them; the roasted nutty smell instantly perked him up. She said nothing, barely acknowledged them with her heavily hooded eyes, as if she were doing her own hard time working at a diner until the end of her pathetic life. This dusty part of the world wasn’t trying to please anyone.

As he glanced around the empty run-down diner, Luke knew he’d rather be here than in prison for most of his life. “Why not find some guy who knows the mafia world?”

“If you’re smart enough to run a massive drug ring, we’re pretty confident you can infiltrate the Costa Crew. We tend to select those who’ve had some success in their criminal lives. You raked in quite a bit of money during your stint, and you did it without losing any limbs. Resilience is the key to this game, which I believe you possess.” He raised both palms in a “hold off” gesture. “Or you can spend the rest of your life in prison. It’s your choice.”
