Without question, he is also the biggest dork I’ve ever written. Super dork, this guy. Epic dork.

3. The heroine, Charlie McGovern, is a full-time thief who struggles with her weight. She knows all the pressure points in the human body and there isn’t a lock known to man she can’t pick. Sarcasm is her super power. Unless you’re itching for trouble, you may wanna think twice before ticking her off.

4. All the characters readers fell in love with in DIRTY DEEDS—book one in this series—make an appearance in DIRTY LITTLE SECRETS. Yes, including Mocha. And yes, he’s every bit as funny. Be forewarned you may need to keep a tissue handy during certain parts of the read. During others, you will most certainly need a padded chair to cushion the edge of your seat. Trust me on this.

5. In the close to 5.8 billion times I’ve read the “bathroom scene” (←no idea where Charlie gets her sarcasm), I’ve yet to recover from what Xander does to her in that little room. Not sure I ever will.

About the author
Jones, Sherry Lynn, EdD, MS, RN, FAAETS, EMTP (Ret.)

Sherry Lynn Jones is a registered nurse, QMPH, and retired paramedic with more than 25 years’ combined experience in EMS, trauma center ERs, and psych/corrections nursing (in chorus with civilian and paramilitary CISM response). A lieutenant colonel with Civil Air Patrol, Auxiliary of the USAF’s Total Force, Sherry was one of the key architects in introducing and developing CAP's CISM Program. She served as CAP’s National CISM Director providing training, staff development, and strategic responses that included air crashes and Joint Task Force Katrina.

Sherry’s education includes a doctorate in adult education, and a master’s degree in psychology specializing in crisis management and response. Her dissertation, Nurses’ Occupational Trauma Exposure, Resilience, and Coping Education, revealed gaps in nurses’ training and practice, particularly regarding self-care.

Sherry is the author of a Trauma Junkie anthology, has published in numerous books (also as Sherry Jones Mayo), magazines, and journals. Sherry is a faculty member and approved instructor for multiple ICISF courses (International Critical Incident Stress Foundation). My Review of Confessions of a Trauma Junkie

I have always been interested in watching on tv or reading about anything to do with the medical field. This book falls into that interest. Medics and nurses are an extremely part of out health care system. EMT's are usually the first people to arrive on a traumatic or nonlife threatening situation, whether in the home, workplace or an accident. There are so many things that these wonderful people see out there that we all need to be very thankful for what they do.

Sherry Lynn Jones is a nurse, EMT and has done this work for many years. This memoir covers many different aspects of this work, there are stories from Emergency Service Workers, stories about death, day to day life with correction officers in prisons and out in the ambulances. 

Reading this book gave me more of an understanding of what an EMT really does and how they handle any given situation. I spent my 25-year working career in a local nursing home so I got first-hand knowledge of what nurses do for their patients. A lot of them are so loving that it was heartwarming to work with these people on a daily basis.

These stories are written like a novel but with personal insight by Ms.Jones, some very emotional and some humorous but all very enjoyable.

His ex-wife. The only woman he’d ever loved. The only one he’d ever wanted to love. The one who’d broken his heart into tiny little pieces and tossed them aside.

Shit.

His body still slick with sweat, the scent of Ava wrapped around him like a second skin, Elijah wondered if she realized that while extracting her promise of no regrets, he hadn’t offered the same.

After all, Elijah knew just how pointless promises could be. Especially the ones between him and Ava.

His body spent, his mind worn, he couldn’t find anything left to offer up on the altar of past regrets, though. He wrapped his arm tighter around her shoulders. Ava responded by snuggling closer, her thigh nestled between his as she shifted her chin into the indention where his shoulder met his chest. Her breath fluttered over his throat, soft and easy in sleep.

Regret?

Oh yeah, he knew he’d regret this in the morning. Hell—he glanced out the window, gauging the time from the angle of the moon—it was nearing dawn and the regret was already winding through him. Shoving aside pleasure, easing out satisfaction.

Closing his eyes against it, he drifted into sleep with her hand entwined with his, the twisted band of her ring rubbing gently between his fingers.

And he knew it for the talisman it was, the hope that lifted him from his nightmares.

If only for tonight.

Because nobody knew better than Elijah that tonight was all they had.
