Reviews!

To any authors/publishers/ tour companies that are looking for the reviews that I signed up for please know this is very hard to do. I will be stopping reviews temporarily. My husband passed away February 1st and my new normal is a bit scary right now and I am unable to concentrate on a book to do justice to the book and authors. I will still do spotlight posts if you wish it is just the reviews at this time. I apologize for this, but it isn't fair to you if I signed up to do a review and haven't been able to because I can't concentrate on any books. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time. I appreciate all of you. Kathleen Kelly April 2nd 2024

Wicked Origins by Paula Black

I have no idea what’s happening to me. When a tornado dropped my car in a land of short, wild people, I was shocked. With no way to get home, no idea where I was and no clue how to communicate with the muchkins, I was completely out of luck. Then I found out that my car had landed on someone and killed them. Supposedly she was the Wicked Witch of the East. If that wasn’t bad enough, now her ruby slippers magically appear on my feet, and slowly, I’m becoming her. Now I need to get to Emerald City and see the Wizard if I want to stop the transformation and return home. But the yellow brick road is no cake-walk, and I don’t know what I’ll find at the end of this journey. Luckily, I have three brothers I meet along the way to help me on my journey. Each of them is vying for my affection, as if it doesn’t matter that my skin is turning green.

Wicked Origins is a modern YA Reverse-Harem Fantasy Retelling of L. Frank Baum’s original Oz tales.

As an ex-star of a hit teen detective show, Maizie Albright gets the youth demographic. Or so she thought. Now that she’s adulting, today’s kids make Maizie feel out of date. At least the youth she meets while doing community service at Black Pine’s exclusive healing resort, the Wellspring Center. When these teens aren’t vlogging their attempts to track down Big Foot, they’re trying to prove the Center is up to no good. Starting with the disappearance and possible murder of their not-as-young commander. A murder the police find as likely as Big Foot.
Maizie has her own suspicions about the new celebrity retreat. Particularly when she learns her ex-fiancé has been hired to run the Center. Kind of an issue when she thought Oliver was in prison. Kind of an issue when Nash, the man of her dreams, is out of commission.
Wait, not man of her dreams. Boss of her fantasies. Professionally speaking, of course.
While Maizie’s helping adolescent Youtubers detect a disappearance, she’s wrangling her mother’s wedding, assuaging an overzealous probation officer, and struggling to keep Nash Security Solutions solvent. Conspiracy theories collide with real-life catastrophes beginning with murder and possibly ending with Maizie’s life.

Cover Reveal of Work For It by Ashley Bostock!

Title: Work for It (Irresistible Billionaires Book 3)
Author: Ashley Bostock
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date:January 22, 2019

Billionaire CEO Dylan Truex was burnt out. Not from his empire, DIRTY GAINS, but from his celebrity status. Having the body he did as well as the motivation to lead the pack, was no longer all it was cracked up to be. Heading to Estes Park for a two-week getaway all by himself sounded like the perfect solution to all his problems. Until he arrives and finds that the condo has been double-booked. Sharing the condo, he can handle. Cute blondie tempting him to break his no-sex bet, err…
When Lina Armstrong runs away from her old life—walking out on her job and leaving behind her family—the best thing she can do is reclaim her true self. No boss. No family. No men. No anybody. Then comes handsome stranger Dylan Truman threatening to wreck her alone time at Pine Lake. Yeah, he’s cute and all, but so are the elk and that doesn’t mean she wants to share a condo with them.
When the blizzard hits and whiteout conditions make it unsafe for either of them to go anywhere, they are forced to stay put in the condo together. What started off as a bad thing, starts to turn into something good. Two weeks with this cocky hard body? Alright, if she must.
It shouldn’t be a problem as long as she can keep her hands to herself and stop imagining if his tongue has as much stamina as the rest of his body.

Ashley Bostock was born and raised in Colorado where she currently resides with her husband, two children and her animals. She loves reading, writing, and music and is always trying to find more time in the day to incorporate all three. Seeking an outlet and pursuing her life-long passion for writing, she began composing her first novel in 2013. She has traveled all over the world, but still has an extensive list of places she would love to visit. Anywhere near a sky-blue ocean will always be at the top of that list. She carries a Bachelor’s Degree in History with a concentration in Elementary Education from Metropolitan State College of Denver. While she loves children, she now fears teaching, which probably has something to do with being a stay-at-home mom. She is mostly active on Instagram, but feel free to follow her at any or all of her social media pages!

Cover Reveal of Bloodjinn by Laura Catherine!

Title: Bloodjinn (Djinn #3)
Author: Laura Catherine
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Release Date: December 22, 2018
Cover Designer: Lizzie Zhou

Heartbreak and looking for escape. Kyra has given up on everything. Alec betrayed her. Will is dead. Her and her father are imprisoned by the Djinn awaiting a sentence from High King Tibal who is even more ruthless than Ivan. When a mysterious woman gives her the choice to start a rebellion for the Guardjinn, Kyra is less than interested in losing more people she cares about. Instead she chooses to escape with her parents to live her old life among the humans. Bloodlust and civil war. When Kyra realises Will might still be alive she snaps to her senses and heads halfway across the world in search of De Morte, the Blooder City. Along the way, Kyra will truely begin to understand what it means to be a Bloodjinn; part Djinn and part Blooder. There is a darkness within her growing with every drop of blood she tastes, but Kyra needs more powers if she is going to save Will and start a civil war among the Djinn.

River’s gaze was hard, which contrasted with her soft features. Whatever was on her mind weighed heavily on her.
“My name is River Constance. I am a member of the High King’s council and his advisor.”
I leaned my head on my hand, wincing at the throbbing pain in my wrist. “I know.”
“What you don’t know is that I am also the leader of a resistance group within my compound. A group that wishes to overthrow the High King.”
I was speechless. That was the last thing I was expecting her to tell me. There was a resistance in the first compound? Was she tricking me? Was this a test? But then I considered, why wouldn’t there be people who opposed the High King, since everyone had different opinions?
“Why would you want to overthrow the High King?” I asked, eyeing River cautiously.
“Isn’t it obvious?” River replied. “He’s a tyrant. He abuses his power and rules with a clouded view of the world. You surely understand. I heard your words during the interrogation and the sentencing. You understand we can no longer live as we once did. The Djinn will die out if things do not change. We are also supportive of the Guardjinn being disbanded. Queen Celeste is not the only person who felt this way. She was just able to express her views without fear of repercussions. Things are different in the first compound. The High King is a strict and unforgiving man. The freedom you have in this compound is something I have never experienced before.”
River let out a breath as though the air in the room was somehow fresher and clearer.
“Suppose I believe your story,” I said carefully, “what do you want from me?”
River stepped closer, her eyes widening. “We want your help,” she said. “The High King believes you to be a danger to the Djinn, but I believe you are our salvation. You can bring about the change we so desperately desire. You can help us take down Tibal.”
I frowned. “You want me to kill the High King? Do you have any idea what the repercussions of that would be?”
“It is all I’ve thought about for years,” she replied. “His death will split the compound apart.”
I leaned forward. “You want me to help you start a civil war? Are you mad? You already have enough to handle with the Blooders attacking.”
“That is precisely why we need to overthrow the High King now before it’s too late to fight the Blooders.”
River spoke with passion, and I was inclined to believe her story because why else would she come days before I was supposed to die? Unless she was trying to see if I’d mention any names of Djinn that would side against the High King, but she hadn’t asked for anyone else’s help but mine.
“I can’t help you,” I said, leaning back. “I’m not going to be the face of a civil war. People wouldn’t trust me because of what I am, not to mention I have no interest in getting involved anymore. The last time I tried to help someone I … someone I loved died.”
