Deena grew up in a small town on the south shore of eastern Long Island, where she met and married her high school sweetheart. She recently relocated to Florida with her husband, three kids, son-in-law, and four dogs. Now she enjoys long walks in nature all year long, despite the occasional alligator or snake she sometimes encounters. Deena’s love for writing developed when her youngest son was born and didn’t sleep through the night, and she now works full-time as a writer and a freelance editor.

My Thoughts

The Other Girlfriend by Alex Stone is a compelling story of Lizzie Green and her love for Tom Murphy. They were lifelong friends and even went to college together. One night in the past, lots of alcohol was consumed and a tragic accident occurred. Tom left for 10 years only to show up unannounced on Lizzie's (now calls herself Beth) doorstep. He kind of moves in without her permission. Unfortunately, she can't say no to Tom as she still loves him.

Beth still has a lot of guilt pertaining to the accident and she just doesn't want her heart broken again. As time goes on though she comes to realize exactly who Tom really is.

This is a psychological thriller, with lots of twisty turns. I liked Beth (Lizzie) and hoped that she would become the confident person that she wants to be. Tom, I found kind of sleazy right from the start, very controlling.

I read this book in two sittings and really enjoyed it! I look forward to the next one by Alex Stone!

I give it 4 stars!

Loneliness ate me up from the inside, nibbling away at me and leaving an aching emptiness. I didn.t know what I missed or who I missed but knew, deep in the part of my soul that holds my intuition, there was a person-size hole nobody could fix, except for the one.

The trees gathered around me and protected me from the breeze that grew and took on a new life. I rested against the rough bark of the largest tree, my rear now sitting into the roots that formed a seat in the ground. The tree, I almost believed, was shaped for me. Its branches wrapped around my tiny form as I snuggled among the roots. The wind grazed my cheek and I pulled my scarf around my face, desperate to stay here for every second possible.
