My Review of "I Love God's Green Earth by Michael and Caroline Carroll

About I Love God's Green Earth by  Michael Carroll and Caroline Carroll from Tyndale

"Kids love working on practical projects to help take care of the Earth; they are often the family’s biggest proponents of recycling. This book will attract those eco-friendly kids and teach them how creation care can actually draw them closer to God. Each devotion includes a Scripture verse, a “Connection” section to help kids apply both the biblical and environmental lessons, and a “What Can I Do?” section with a takeaway activity. Jokes and fun facts are also included throughout the devotion to make this book fun, informative, and interesting to readers."

Press Release:
Devotions Encouraging Kids to Care for God’s Creation

"November 2009, CAROL STREAM, IL— ―Ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God‖ (Romans 1:20, NLT). If God’s creation is a testament to his existence, we must do a better job of taking care of it.
Children are often the family’s biggest proponents of recycling. They love working on practical projects that take care of the Earth. Michael and Caroline Carroll want to encourage these eco-friendly kids to continue caring for the planet. That’s the message in their new book, I Love God’s Green Earth (Tyndale Kids, March 2010).

I Love God’s Green Earth includes 90 devotions that teach kids how creation care can draw them closer to God. Each devotion includes a Scripture verse, a ―Connection‖ section to apply the biblical and environmental lesson, and a ―What Can I Do?‖ section with practical ways kids can take action in response to what they’ve learned. Fun facts and jokes will keep kids interested while teaching them more about the environment and conservation."

My Thoughts about I Love God's Green Earth
This book covers a period of 90 days with scripture lessons, fun facts, activities and even jokes. A very interesting collection of fun facts and I even learned a few things that I did not know. For instance,"The deadliest earthquake ever recorded shook the Earth in Shansi, China, on January 23rd, 1556. Over 830,000 people died in the earthquake and the tidal waves that came afterward." That is a lot of people back then... I liked the What Can I Do? part of the daily devotion. I think that this is good for all of us and for children to think about how as individuals, we can help save our planet. Children are very receptive to new things and I think that this book will give them opportunities to think up ways to help save the environment and be able to use what they learn in their lives as they grow. It also leads them in the right direction on learning about God and how they relate to Him in their lives. I liked the book and I would recommend it for children over the age of 7. I give this book 5 stars...
