"It has been fifty years since Mr. Darcy took Elizabeth Bennet as his bride, and through half a century of both true happiness and difficult trials, their love has never faltered. When Charles Bingley's declining health forces Darcy and Elizabeth to travel with their dear friends to Europe, it will fall to the next generation to continue the legacy of love and family their parents have spent a lifetime establishing. Reunions of old friends go hand in hand with the introduction of new adversaries, and long hidden secrets come to light. But as this chronicle comes to a close, the sadness in parting is tempered not only by splendid memories, but the knowledge that the legacy of Pemberley will live far beyond the written page.." My Thoughts: | ||||||||
The Legacy of Pemberly is the 10th and final novel in The Pemberley Chronicles. This last novel takes place 50 years after the beginning of the Jane Austen Pride and Prejudice with the Darcy's being grandparents. There are a lot of original characters and some new ones added to the story. What this book does is tie up all the loose ends with the families. Yes there are a few of the beloved characters that have passed away and new additions to the families depicted in the book, including new families not mentioned before. In concluding the story of the friends and families of Fitzwilliam and Elizabeth Darcy I feel that the author did a wonderful job of finishing the storyline that was started in Book 1: A Companion Volume to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and that to further the story that was told was the future generations and the legacy left to them by Mr. and Mrs. Fitzwilliam Darcy. I was sad to see this novel end as this series is one of my favorite sequels to Jane Austens work. I do like Rebecca Ann Collins writing and look forward to anything else she may write in the future. I received my copy of this book from Sourcebooks and was not monetarily compensated for my review. |
Oh, this sounds positively lovely! These covers are fantastic, too, aren't they?
