Petty crime never looked so good...
Alpha werewolf Konrad Wolfensen sees it as his duty to protect the citizens of Boston, even if it means breaking into their businesses just to prove their security systems don’t work. But when his unsolicited services land him in trouble with the law, he’ll have to turn to his sexy new neighbor for help.
She should know better...
Attorney Roz Wells is bored. She used to have such a knack for attracting the weird and unexpected, but ever since she took a job as a Boston public defender, the quirky quotient in her life has taken a serious hit. Until her sexy werewolf neighbor starts coming around…
About the Author
Ashlyn Chase describes herself as an Almond Joy bar. A little nutty, a little flaky, but basically sweet, wanting only to give her readers a scrumptious, satisfying, reading experience. She holds a degree in behavioral sciences, worked as a psychiatric RN for several years and spent a few more years working for the American Red Cross where she still volunteers as an instructor. She credits her sense of humor to her former careers since comedy helped preserve whatever was left of her sanity. She is a multi-published, award-winning author of humorous erotic romances. Represented by the Nancy Yost agency in New York, NY, she lives in beautiful New Hampshire with her true-life hero husband and a spoiled brat cat.
My Thoughts:
The Werewolf Upstairs by Ashlyn Chase is a paranormal story about werewolves, a vampire and a couple of ghosts. Roz, a lawyer, is not particularily fond of her chosen profession but it pays the bills. She moves into the apartment of a friend who is getting married. The building is owned by the soon to be husband of her friend and his aunt and uncle manage the place. The aunt is a busybody who constantly has her ears "to the doors" of the tenants. The tenants are an eclectic group, including two witches, a werewolf, a vampire who lives in the basement, and a ghost. The gorgeous werewolf upstairs has an unusual occupation in that he sells security systems. But he has a rather unorthodox way of getting customers, he breaks into the buildings then convinces them that they need a security system. He has a twin brother who works with him. When Konrad is accused of art theft he enlists Roz's help to defend him and also to find out the truth of what did happen. As Konrad and Roz form a relationship, he finds that Roz is his soul mate, so he does what he can to convince her she is the one. Of course this is after Konrad tells Roz that he is a werewolf and werewolves mate for life.
I enjoyed the story but I felt that the title is misleading. You will not read any scenes of Konrad or any of the other werewolves "shapeshifting" or vampires biting but there certainly is a lot of descriptive sex scenes. There is a lot of humor and I liked the different characters in the story, especially the witches. If you like a light paranormal love story than you should read this. If you are expecting a Twilight type story, this isn't it, but it is still a fast paced fun read.
