It's 2012 - Did the World End Yet?
Inflation in the United States is at 27%, unemployment at 35%. The dollar is only worth 49 cents and the DOW can’t seem to rise above 3,217. Gas is $15 a gallon and now there is no electricity. What if there was a meltdown of the United States financial system and the government isn’t there to save you?
A man-made disaster is looming and is your family prepared for famines or runaway inflation that may send the US dollar into free fall. What would you do? How would you feed your family? Are you prepared to take care of yourself?
Economic Meltdown is not a book about the end of the world or living in a cave, eating berries and twigs. You’ve probably heard economists predict that both our personal and national debt and spending, Social Security, Medicare, etc. are “unsustainable.” This is a book that will help you and your family; prepare to live day to day during a downward financial trend many top economists are predicting will happen within the next couple of years.
By following their story and strategies, efforts and results, you will learn how you, too, can prepare your family for an economic meltdown or any major disaster. Don’t let the government force you into a crisis, when you are prepared, the crisis just becomes a problem to get through.

Karen and her husband live in the mountains of Colorado and are completely off the grid (their house runs on solar power, propane, well and septic). They have more than a year and a half of food and supplies to be completely self-sufficient if the US does go through hyperinflation or a currency crisis. She is has also planned for her kids to move back in as well as her parents, if the economy does get bad. Karen grows what she can at 9,500 ft and is teaching others on how to prepare for any kind of a crisis.
My Thoughts:
This short novel tells the story of what can happen if the our country continues to decline economically. As I read this book it was almost like a punch in the stomach. I think most people try to be more 'green' but I doubt if most people are self sustaining. Sam and Cindy have decided, with the help of their children to learn more ways to save resources, save money and to be more independent. They decide to dig up their backyard and grow all their own fruits and vegetables. They did all their new canning. They learned unique ways to save on their electricity usage.
This is a book that will make you sit back and do some serious thinking about what we as a people may need to do if the situation we currently face gets worse. Losing jobs, homes in foreclosure and banks failing is not a thing that could happen, but it has happened. I am glad it was a short book though because reading about all of the bad things that could happen is just heartbreaking. Our country should not be like this and I think every American needs to do some change in their lives so that we may all succeed. I think this is a book that every adult and child should read.
I received this book from BohlsenPR and was not monetarily compensated for my review.
Chilling scenario. I will read.
