Reviews!

To any authors/publishers/ tour companies that are looking for the reviews that I signed up for please know this is very hard to do. I will be stopping reviews temporarily. My husband passed away February 1st and my new normal is a bit scary right now and I am unable to concentrate on a book to do justice to the book and authors. I will still do spotlight posts if you wish it is just the reviews at this time. I apologize for this, but it isn't fair to you if I signed up to do a review and haven't been able to because I can't concentrate on any books. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time. I appreciate all of you. Kathleen Kelly April 2nd 2024

Edna O’Brien’s August Is a Wicked Month and The Love Object Now Available as Ebooks

Tuesday, April 03, 2012
“She is a consummate stylist and, to my mind, the most gifted woman now writing fiction in English.” —Philip Roth
Open Road Integrated Media announces the ebook publication of two titles by celebrated author Edna O’Brien, who has been hailed as one of the greatest chroniclers of the female experience in the twentieth century. Her numerous accolades include: the 2011 Frank O’Connor Prize, Irish PEN Award for Literature, the Ulysses Medal from University College Dublin, and a lifetime achievement award from the Irish Literary Academy.
O’Brien’s August Is a Wicked Month follows Ellen, an Irish woman separated from her husband and son, as she flees her London home to naïvely pursue “a jaunt into iniquity” along the French Mediterranean coast. It is uncertain, however, whether she will find the escape that she longs for, or the entrapment that she so deeply fears. August Is a Wicked Month is considered one of O’Brien’s greatest works, with The New York Times calling it “a serious and moving piece of work.”
The Love Object, O’Brien’s first short story collection, joins the release date of August Is a Wicked Month. In these tales, the objects of each woman’s affections vary, yet all are masterfully bound together by their love and longing. “The Rug” a woman becomes consumed in a search for the sender of a mysterious gift. The title story, meanwhile, tells the tale of a successful television announcer struggling for emotional fulfillment by having an affair with a married man.
