Reviews!

To any authors/publishers/ tour companies that are looking for the reviews that I signed up for please know this is very hard to do. I will be stopping reviews temporarily. My husband passed away February 1st and my new normal is a bit scary right now and I am unable to concentrate on a book to do justice to the book and authors. I will still do spotlight posts if you wish it is just the reviews at this time. I apologize for this, but it isn't fair to you if I signed up to do a review and haven't been able to because I can't concentrate on any books. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time. I appreciate all of you. Kathleen Kelly April 2nd 2024

Partial To The Past Historical Fiction Giveaway Hop

This hop is strictly for the Historical Fiction lover out there like myself, I would have to say it is my favorite genre...

So to celebrate that Bippity Boppity Books is the host for this awesome event. So with a few other Historical Fiction lovers, I have joined this hop and have an awesome book to giveaway. I happen to have an extra copy, otherwise I would not give it away, of To Die For by Sandra Byrd.

If you have not read this book, now is the opportunity to win your very own copy. Entry is simple, just fill out the rafflecopter form below.
Good Luck and be sure to visit the other blogs participating!!

What would you sacrifice for your best friend?
Would you die for her?

Meg Wyatt has been Anne Boleyn's closest friend since they grew up together on neighboring manors in Kent. So when twenty-five-year-old Anne's star begins to ascend, of course she takes Meg along for the ride.

Life in the court of Henry VIII is thrilling... at first. Meg is made mistress of Anne's wardrobe, and she enjoys the spoils of this privileged orbit and uses her influence for good. She is young and beautiful and in favor; everyone at court assumes that being close to her is being close to Anne.

But favor is fickle and envy is often laced with venom. As Anne falls, so does Meg, and it becomes nearly impossible for her to discern ally from enemy. Suddenly life's unwelcome surprises rub against the court's sheen to reveal the tarnished brass of false affections and the bona fide gold of those that are true. Both Anne and Meg may lose everything. When your best friend is married to fearsome Henry VIII, you may soon find yourself not only friendless but headless as well.

A rich alchemy of fact and fiction, To Die For chronicles the glittering court life, the sweeping romance, and the heartbreaking fall from grace of a forsaken queen and Meg, her closest companion, who was forgotten by the ages but who is destined to live in our hearts forever.

  10. I love historical fiction because it gives me perspective on the present. I like the escapism of fiction but learning about the big picture problems of the past and how people came through them (or didn't) gives me a better appreciation for the problems of today.

  20. Historical Fiction...how do I love thee? Let me count the ways! I have always been interested in the past so I love reading about history in general, but HF adds that extra element that brings history to life. A story...excitement, adventure, intrigue, drama, romance (although I can take that or leave it)...a chance to live vicariously through the characters where we almost feel like we're living history.

    Thanks for the chance, Kathleen.

  21. I love historical fiction because I'm a naturally nosy person and love "seeing" the dresses, the food, the parties--especially during Henry VII's rule.

  22. Thank you for an intriguing review. I usually steal to greek historical fiction but I shall explore those closer to home (I live in Scotland). I've added this to my list to read in Goidreads.

  23. I do investigations. I like finding the pieces and having to extrapolate the truth. A good historical fiction is put together much the same way - looking at the known facts and then figuring out the motives, inner feelings, and driving forces of the characters.

  31. I like historical fiction because I like a bit of realism with my fantasy...the historical aspect gives me a peek into a different time...and a "what if" scenario... more food for thought this way :)

  33. I'm fascinated by history so naturally historical fiction sparks my interest. Non fiction is often to dry for my taste, so historical fiction provides with interesting truths mixed with a good story - best of both worlds as far as I'm concerned ;)
