About Crashers
Fraudulent car accidents is a multi-million dollar racket, involving unscrupulous medical providers, personal injury attorneys, and the cooperating passengers involved in the accidents—and who also receive a portion of the illegal proceeds. Such is the fate of newly engaged, Nathan and Shari, whose joy is tempered by the dark cloud of mounting debt.
A chance encounter with a stranger in whom Shari confides her troubles proves fortuitous: he tells her of a get-rich-quick scheme that will put her and her fiancĂ© on easy street. Seduced by the chance to move from hard times to good times in no time, Shari takes the carrot offered her, and finds herself acting as a “stuffed passenger”—the “victim” in a staged auto accident. The act goes according to plan and Shari gets her payday, but getting out and breaking free of the insurance fraud underworld will take nothing short of a miracle.
A modern day cautionary tale, Crashers is a true-to-life novel that uncovers how the innocent get lured into the scheme of “cappers” and “hammers.”

My Thoughts
I know people will go to great lengths to make money, but can you imagine going as far as staging accidents to get insurance companies to pay... I guess I never thought about it but there is such a thing as accident insurance fraud. That is what Crashers by Lindy S.Hudis is about. A story that is shocking and hard to believe that there are people out there who recruit those down on their luck to work for them to stage car accidents so they can pay their bills. That is exactly what happens to Shari and Nathan, a young couple with all their dreams ahead of them until fate intervenes and they both find themselves without jobs. There are bills to pay and no money so when Shari meets a man who promises to solve that problem for them, they jump at the chance. Although Nathan is very reluctant to embark on this criminal activity, he goes along with it because he loves Shari, thus begins their adventure.
This is a book that caught me as soon as I started to read and I enjoyed the book very much. It certainly opened up my eyes, I can see how easy a person can become a victim of this type of fraud. If you don't have a good lawyer, you can lose everything to an accident of this type, and the ending totally surprised me.
I received a copy of this book for review and was not monetarily compensated for my review.
