Reviews!

To any authors/publishers/ tour companies that are looking for the reviews that I signed up for please know this is very hard to do. I will be stopping reviews temporarily. My husband passed away February 1st and my new normal is a bit scary right now and I am unable to concentrate on a book to do justice to the book and authors. I will still do spotlight posts if you wish it is just the reviews at this time. I apologize for this, but it isn't fair to you if I signed up to do a review and haven't been able to because I can't concentrate on any books. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time. I appreciate all of you. Kathleen Kelly April 2nd 2024

Heartbeat by Faith Sullivan Review

The Book
Katie and Adam are afraid of love.

She carries the scars of a first kiss gone terribly wrong.

He uproots his life to flee the stinging betrayal of an ex.

When trust is no longer an option, all romance is suspect.

As a young paramedic, Adam rescues people for a living but cannot save himself. Katie, just out of high school, struggles with a tortured home life she cannot escape.

Everything changes when Katie hops into the front seat of Adam's ambulance. Overwhelmed by what they are feeling, neither possess the confidence to make the first move. They walk away from each other, full of regret.

To find her, Adam risks his future. To be with him, Katie sacrifices her security.

Little do they know, what little time they do have, is being measured by a heartbeat that is slowly dying out.

The Author

I really hate talking about myself. My goal is to have the shortest author bio imaginable. I would much rather have a conversation with my readers.

Are you able to escape within my pages?
Does my writing make you feel something?
Are there characters that you can't get out of your head?

Let me know!

My Review

The book starts out with a car accident and ends with a car accident...weird hey?? No interesting as a matter of fact. Katie is an 18 year old girl who with her grandmother are in an accident. She is alright but her grandmother goes to hospital for minor injuries. Katie ends up riding in the front of the ambulance with Adam, the medic who arrived on the scene of the accident.

Katie has a real jerk of a father, abusive verbally so Katie is only happy when she is with her loving grandmother. She is very insecure and has few friends and no male friends to speak of.
Adam has been burned by his ex fiance so he is disillusioned with love, but when he meets Katie he is instantly attracted and wants to know her more, so he tries to figure out a way where he can meet this young lady again. Katie also feels the attraction but thinks that such a nice and handsome young man will not care about her.

The story that follows is about finding new love, experiencing loss and dealing with obstacles thrown into Katie and Adam's lives. The ending blew me away, did not see it coming. That did not detract from the story though and there is a sequel about Adam that goes more into the story. I loved the author's writing style, it held my interest which made the book a fast paced read. I have to say it drew tears a few times. The book is a very emotional one dealing with good and bad things thrown in the way of a relationship. I enjoyed it very much and highly recommend it.

I received the book for review from the author and was not monetarily compensated for said review.
