Reviews!

To any authors/publishers/ tour companies that are looking for the reviews that I signed up for please know this is very hard to do. I will be stopping reviews temporarily. My husband passed away February 1st and my new normal is a bit scary right now and I am unable to concentrate on a book to do justice to the book and authors. I will still do spotlight posts if you wish it is just the reviews at this time. I apologize for this, but it isn't fair to you if I signed up to do a review and haven't been able to because I can't concentrate on any books. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time. I appreciate all of you. Kathleen Kelly April 2nd 2024

A Better Truth by Valerie Joan Connors Book Spotlight! @VJConnors

When the frantic pace of her Washington, D.C. life becomes too much for her to bear, Willow St. Claire takes refuge in the North Georgia Mountains. She buys a bookstore, hoping to spend her days talking to customers about the latest releases, and her evenings in the quiet oasis of her mountain retreat. Alone in her cabin, two miles away from the nearest neighbor, Willow must learn to cope with the terror of her past, heal from the loss of her mother, and maintain a relationship with a teenaged daughter who refuses to leave D.C. where she lives with her father. But a knock at Willow’s kitchen door late one night, sets off a series of events that will shatter her newly found peace and tranquility, and threaten to trigger another breakdown. Willow has held tightly to her own version of the truth for over three decades, because for her, the real truth is far too disturbing.

Valerie Joan Connors is the author of four novels. Her upcoming release, A Better Truth, will be published in June of 2016 by Deeds Publishing.

A Better Truth is a psychological thriller that follows Willow St. Claire to the edge of madness. The manic pace of her Washington, D.C. lifestyle makes her long for a more peacful existence. But even her early morning horseback rides on her parents' ranch in Virginia, and afternoons on the screened porch of her secluded cabin in the North Georgia mountains are plagued with flashbacks, nightmares, and visions of terror that is yet to come.

A Promise Made is a historical novel, set in New York City just after World War II.  Originally self-published in 2010 and titled Give Me Liberty, it’s the story of a courageous woman who breaks away from her abusive husband and moves to New York with her three year old son to start a new life, at a time in our history when women rarely did that sort of thing.

In June of 2014, Deeds published Shadow of a Smile, a story about a woman who, upon the untimely death of her mother, embarks upon a journey to discover the truth about the father she believed had been dead for thirty years.

In August of 2013, Bell Bridge Books published her novel, In Her Keeping, a story about a tiger sanctuary, set in the North Carolina Mountains, whose protagonist finds both meaning for her life, and an outlet for her maternal instincts, when she finds herself caring for a tiger cub.

Valerie is the Past President of the Atlanta Writers Club, and currently holds the position of VP of Programming.  The AWC is an organization that marked its centennial year in 2014, and has approximately 600 active members.

She has a B.S. in Finance from Portland State University.

During business hours, Valerie is the Chief Financial Officer of an engineering firm.  She lives in Atlanta with her husband and two dogs, and is working on her next novel.
