Being in love with a ghost is bad enough, but for Annabelle, discovering that her true love will be crossing over at any moment pushes her over the edge of reckless behavior.

My Thoughts
A Shadow of Love by Amy Cutler was a complete surprise to me. A pleasant one I might add. I was able to get into it right away and it held my interest.
Annabelle is a journalist who bought a farmhouse to get away from her abusive husband. She hopes to be able t start over. She gets to know some of the residents in town, and becomes good friends with a few.
Christian, in the late 1800s, committed suicide in the barn of the house that Annabelle has bought. His wife put a curse on him, condemning him to be around for 100 years. He is nearing the end of his time as a ghost when Annabelle arrives on the scene. They are able to communicate and soon fall in love. How can you fall in love with a ghost? I don't know but they did. Annabelle gets so involved with him that she will do anything just to stay with him.
This book is a short book, but wow, all sorts of emotions were affected. I was in tears at the end, not because it was a sad ending but because it wasn't. I think the life that Annabelle ended up having, was more emotional to me than her love for Christian. I do love a story that pulls the reader right in and this one definitely did that.
If you are looking for a fast read, this one definitely is and tugs at the heartstrings.
I give it 5 stars.
