Reviews!

To any authors/publishers/ tour companies that are looking for the reviews that I signed up for please know this is very hard to do. I will be stopping reviews temporarily. My husband passed away February 1st and my new normal is a bit scary right now and I am unable to concentrate on a book to do justice to the book and authors. I will still do spotlight posts if you wish it is just the reviews at this time. I apologize for this, but it isn't fair to you if I signed up to do a review and haven't been able to because I can't concentrate on any books. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time. I appreciate all of you. Kathleen Kelly April 2nd 2024

The Couple Across the Street by Anita Waller Book Review! #TheCoupleAcrossTheStreet #NetGalley

The BRAND NEW psychological thriller from the #2 bestselling author of The Family at No. 12!

A darkness settles on this supposedly quiet street...

When Clare becomes a widow, her response is something that shocks her – relief. All she wants to do is move on and figure out how to continue her life, alone, no matter the guilt that brings.

So when Vic, her closest friend, comes to her, showing the signs of trouble in her own marriage, she is more than supportive in helping her leave Rob.

But Vic doesn’t get the chance to do that. As they go over to Vic's house to collect her things, they find a body. Rob’s.

It appears someone else had an axe to grind. But for Clare, already reeling from secrets from her own late husband’s dark past, she’s about to find out this murder isn’t as straightforward as it may appear…

My first book was Beautiful and my second, a sequel to Beautiful, is called Angel.

My Thoughts

I love mystery and psychological thrillers, you just never know what will happen next. That said, just looking at the cover drew me in. An ordinary house at dusk, or dawn, I guess whichever you prefer looks pretty benign but once you start reading it you are hooked.

Clare is widowed, sure she misses her husband but is okay with being alone. She just is trying to figure out what is next in her life. She has friends and a close neighbor Vic and her daughters. As she is cleaning out her husband's things, she finds that he has secrets, well who doesn't have secrets?

Vic has secrets too, she eventually tells Clare that her husband Rob, has been hitting her and abusing her for a while, when Clare sees the bruises she encourages Vic to leave her husband.
An unforeseen event puts Clare and Vic's lives in turmoil. That is all I will say for now, I want you to get the book and read it!

Like I said, I love a good psychological story with good guys, bad guys, dysfunctional families with secrets. This is the first book that I have read by Ms.Waller and I need to remedy that, as she has written a lot of books!

The Couple Across the Street has everything that you could possibly want in this genre. Unfaithful and abusive husbands, secrets, and murder. The author has put these all together to make this a 5-star book!

I received this book for review purposes only!
