Nick pulled into his space outside Cricket’s to meet Felicia and Lauren. He locked his car and was about to go in when he was forcefully shoved from behind. Nick bumped his forehead on the window. He whirled around, his fist drawn back to strike, but stopped when he saw the large goon named Sebastian glaring at him.
“That figures,” Nick said. “The sun went down and my shadow appeared.”
“Still tryin’ to be funny, huh?” Sebastian jerked his bald head to the side. “He wants to see you. C’mon.”
Nick accompanied him to a beige Toyota sedan parked across the lot. Goldstick sat behind the wheel. He gave Nick a lopsided grin, one that made his bushy moustache look off-kilter.
“Mister Seven,” he drawled. “I thought I would’ve heard from you by now.”
Nick leaned over and rested his arm on the roof of the car. “I’ve been kinda busy, you know, running a business and all.”
“I see. Not so busy that you’ve forgotten what we discussed the other day, I trust.”
“No, I haven’t forgotten. Some other things came up.”
“Sounds like he’s bullshittin’ us, Mister Goldstick,” Sebastian said. “How’s about I take him out back
