ABOUT THE HARD TIMES
The Hard Times is, first and foremost, a novel about how men love. It focuses not on simple lust nor affection, but the complex web of expectations, loyalty, duty, and desire that define the society of men, how they love women, how they love their families, and how they bind themselves to one another in friendship and in war.Taken from the news, declassified CIA documents, and the author’s personal experiences in Africa and Namibia, it is a fictional story superimposed on what’s actually happening in the diamond trade, today, where international politics and industry, play a strange game of hide and seek with illegal stones.
It begins in Mississippi. Ray Moffett is an ER doc, and Ray is facing an abyss. When his best friend and former boss comes into the ER dead, just six weeks after his retirement party, Ray finds himself searching for meaning in his own life. All Ray has left is his work. Work, punctuated only by the occasional round of golf. That’s all he can see stretching between him and his own trip to the grave if something doesn’t change.
A chance meeting with an African hunting guide, Fritz Dietrich, shows Ray a second chance to live the adventures he’d dreamed of as a boy. Dreams that were fueled by books written by men like Hemmingway, Ruark, and Capstick. Unfortunately, Fritz isn’t exactly what he seems.
Ray finds himself hunting desert oryx in the Namib with Fritz, both men trapped. Fritz must kill Ray and use his papers to smuggle illegal diamonds. For Ray to get home alive, he’s going to have to kill Fritz and then, somehow find his way out of the most hostile desert on the face of the earth.

Cold Feet by Amy FitzHenry Spotlight!
Today it is my pleasure to feature a debut novel by Amy FitzHenry called Cold Feet, a story about 'what if's'. Come take a look!

—Bethany Chase, USA Today bestselling author of The One that Got Away
“A dazzling debut—clever, charming, and insightful all at once.”
—Emily Liebert, the author of Those Secrets We Keep
Everyone’s expecting her to walk down the aisle. But something is telling her to run.
What if you had never gone on that date in college with the man who you now call your husband? What if you never applied to your current job because you didn’t think you were qualified enough? What if you never went to the flea market, and never got to adopt the dog you now call your best friend? “What ifs” run through our heads on a daily basis, and this time, debut author Amy FitzHenry is putting them on paper.
Emma Moon’s mother thinks it’s acceptable to miss her only daughter’s wedding rehearsal dinner for a work obligation. Her father left when she was six months old. Emma hasn't exactly been raised to be a happily-ever-after kind of girl. So when her anxieties get out of hand, Emma and her best friend, Liv, decide to take a road trip to San Francisco, find her long-lost father, and put her family issues to rest.
But her quest for the truth stirs up events and emotions she didn’t expect. The urge to run away may just be a part of Emma’s genetic makeup, because she’s growing more and more tempted to do just that. Pre-wedding jitters turn into serious doubts in this fresh and funny debut about tying the knot and untethering from the past.

Amy FitzHenry is anything but your ordinary writer. While working 80-hours a week as a lawyer for the popular charity, Movember Foundation, which raises money for cancer research (“Yes, I practice moustache law, and yes, it’s fantastic.”), Amy wrote throughout the night to follow her dream of becoming an author. This debut novel was imagined from her own life, with her own faux “what ifs.” COLD FEET (Berkley Trade Paperback Original; September 1, 2015; $15) is the fictional journey of one woman’s quest towards self-discovery that so many of us have dreamed of taking, and for Amy, one of her imagined adventures comes to life on the pages.
Amy FitzHenry, a Virginia native, attended the College of William and Mary and the University of Virginia School of Law. She is currently living in LA and, when she isn’t writing, practices law as the in-house counsel for the global men’s health charity, the Movember Foundation. Cold Feet is her first novel.

Measurable Difference Eyeshadow Giveaway Opportunity!! #MeasurableDifference
Desert Nights Eyeshadow is inspired by the desert. Aren't these colors gorgeous? Years ago I would use eyeshadow all the time. I always loved to experiment with a palette of colors. What I like about this palette is that you wear them by themselves or mix and match however you want. This palette works well with either blue or brown eyes. You can apply these eyeshadows with a sponge applicator or a brush. Just swipe the lightest color on as a base or to highlight brow bones and build a darker shade on top to create a color definition for a beautiful overall look. A very smooth, creamy eyeshadow to enhance your whole look for work or for that special date.
Chrislie Foundations is sponsoring a giveaway for a chance to win the Measurable Difference Desert Nights Eyeshadow. Scroll down to enter on form provided!

My Thoughts
Why spend a significant amount of money on a product that helps with stretch marks, scars, hair, skin, lips or anything else you can think of? Instead buy Leven Rose Jojoba Organic Oil for a fraction of the cost. I received a bottle with dropper for my review and was not monetarily compensated for my thoughts. I have been doing numerous DIY products using oils and essential oils for some time now. A lot of recipes I see call for Jojoba oil for its wonderful properties. Easily absorbed into the skin and hair makes this a perfect oil to use. Do you live in an area that has cold temps? I do and Jojoba oil is perfect for hands. Rub a couple drops into your skin or add it into a lotion that you make or already use. It can help relieve dry chapped hands that are submerged in water a lot. Perfect for cuticles also. If you have acne, try using this oil to alleviate symptoms and you can also use it on dry lips. Leven Rose Jogoba Oil has no odor so you can use any essential oil you may want, or none at all. Give this oil a try, like I said before, why spend a fortune on products that are supposed to work when you can just get this little bottle that lasts a long time.

From Russia Without Love Synopsis
From Russia Without Love Synopsis
SEAL Team Six veteran Chris Paladin left the Navy to become a pastor, but CIA spook Hannah Andrade pulls him back into Special Operations Group to locate the White House Chief of Staff’s kidnapped son-in-law before he is executed by Greek terrorists. Cantankerous Army Delta Force operator Sonny Cohen reunites with Chris and Hannah as they race the clock to save the hostage.
In Athens, Chris and his teammates discover that Russia is secretly behind the kidnapping, part of a murderous plan to attack the flow of natural gas in Europe. The Cold War has heated up again.
Chris and his crew’s rescue quickly changes into a mission to capture-or-kill a Russian spy.
For release worldwide on September 1, 2015
Excerpt: From Russia Without Love
London. As Chris turned down an alley to find a shortcut back to his crew’s rented office, two white men in their early twenties approached from the opposite direction, smiling and joking with each other. They looked like twins except that one had a fuller face and smoked a cigarette and the other wore glasses. Both wore suits with their necktie knots loosened. They talked loudly about having stayed up all night and teased as to whether they should get some sleep or stay up all day, too.
They seemed comfortable in the shadowed alley, and from what Chris could tell of their ages, they should be in college or working their first jobs. The twins stared at Chris like they were looking through him—a way evil men had stared through him before—and he contemplated turning around and leaving the alley. But if these two were indeed bad men, Chris didn’t want to flee like a wounded fish flapping around in the presence of sharks. He noticed that there were no CCTVs in the alley, and it would be inconspicuous enough to resolve any problems here.
Chris greeted them with a nod, and they nodded back, but when he tried to pass him, they blocked him.
“Could you help us, sir?” the one wearing glasses asked.
Chris raised his eyebrows at the kid. “What do you need help with?”
“We need some money,” the one smoking a cigarette said.
Glasses laughed.
Chris shoved past them and walked briskly forward.
“Hey!” one of them called out, and the sound of their footsteps rushed after him.
He didn’t want this to spill out into the open, so he stopped and turned around. “I have some important business to take care of, so I’d appreciate if you could get to the point.”
Cigarette removed the tobacco from his mouth and mocked Chris’s American accent. Then Glasses pulled out a switchblade and flicked the blade open. “This is the point. Give us all your money. Now!”
They both smiled.
“No, this is the point,” Chris said, and he fast-drew his pistol and aimed it at the chest of Glasses.
Their smiles dropped. Glasses took a step back and said, “Hang on, now. I was just playing.”
“How do we know that’s a real gun?” Cigarette asked.
“I don’t want to make noise, but if you insist…” Chris aimed his Glock at Cigarette’s crotch.
The kid threw up his hands and backed away. “Hey, we don’t want any trouble, man. We’ll go our way, and you go yours.”
Glasses folded the blade back into the handle of his switchblade. “See? No trouble.”
Chris put his pistol back into its holster, concealed once more by his suit jacket. This time, when he resumed his journey out of the alley, the twins didn’t follow.
