Read an excerpt:

Rina had waited a day and faced her daughter. "Honey, I don't want to make a big thing out of an experiment. But drugs are off-limits in this family."
"For sure, Mom. No problem."
The ironic flash in the blue eyes hurt Rina. She had exclaimed, "Ginny, think of your future! You're bright and talented. You can do anything you want!"
Ginny had smiled tauntingly. "Like you, Mom?"
But at least she hadn't come home high again. Till now.
Rina couldn't trust herself to mention it directly today. She said, "Honey, if you have problems, please tell me about them. Don't run from things. You have to face them."
"Oh? You tell me to face them? You? Funny old Mom!"
"Yes, damn it! I've faced problems!" And a hell of a lot bigger than whatever you think yours are, she almost added. But she swallowed her rage; Ginny was high, so arguing wouldn't help now. She said more calmly, "It's just that you could be hurt. I don't want that."
"Yeah, for sure. I could be hurt." That shining, cruel smile again. "Or I could be an addict. Or I could be a movie star. In America I could be anything!" Ginny pushed herself to her feet, scooping up Kakiy. She carried him steadily enough into her bedroom. Rina followed as far as the door. Ginny had made an insert for her backpack, a sturdy cardboard cat carrier with a round porthole window. She put Kakiy into it, took her waterproof poncho from the closet, clapped the fedora onto her head, then frowned at her cluttered table for a moment. Finally she picked up a box of cat treats.
"Where are you going, honey?" asked Rina.
"Library."
Rina sighed. Better to talk to her later. "Okay. See you at dinner."
"Yeah. Save the whales." She kissed Rina almost contemptuously, then pushed by and swung down the hall. Kakiy, unapologetic, gazed back serenely through his porthole as she marched out the door.
She wasn't back for dinner. Rina fought down her worry. But when her mother finally excused herself and went downstairs to her room, she said to Clint, "Maybe Ginny thought we'd be eating late, because of Mamma's bridge game."
"Maybe." Clint, silvery-haired and blue-eyed, paused with a last forkful of cherry pie halfway to his mouth. "You're worried, though."
"Yes."
He tried to be comforting. "She's probably just throwing her weight around."
"Maybe."
"Rina, I hate to see you worrying like this! It's time to get her back in line. It's no favor to go easy on a kid these days. But it's up to you, Rina. I'll back you up, but I'm not here much of the time, damn it."
"She had reason to be mad today."
"Half her fault," he pointed out. He was too much the lawyer, she thought, always ready to see both sides of a question and argue whichever suited him. Rina busied herself cleaning off the table.
But when the doorbell rang at eight-fifteen Rina ran to it, her anxious heart a staccato counterpoint to her footsteps. Two men stood there: stolid faces, intelligent eyes. The older one held out a shield. Police.
"Ginny?" she blurted before they could say anything. "Has something happened to Ginny?"
"No, ma'am," said the older policeman. His voice was flat-pitched, unexcitable. "We're here to ask about a John Spencer."
"Spencer?"
Behind her, Mamma laid a firm hand on her arm. "John Spencer was here this afternoon. Is there a problem?"
"Yes, ma'am. Are you Mrs. Marshall?"
"I'm Mrs. Rossi. Leonora Rossi," Mamma corrected him. "My daughter here is Mrs. Marshall. But I'm the one who knows John Spencer. Not well–– we just met this afternoon."
"I see. Well, ma'am, I'd like to ask you a few questions."
Clint had come up behind them. "We'd be glad to help," he said. "What's the problem?"
In answer the policeman held up his identification again. "Just a few questions, sir," he repeated. "I'm Sergeant Trainer. Homicide."

I Stole His Car Love At First Crime #1 by Jessica Frances

I Stole His Car
Love At First Crime #1
by Jessica Frances
Genre: Adult Romantic Suspense

She stole his car, so he stole her heart…

I saw something I never should have seen.
I took something they wanted back.
I was desperate.
Alone.
Hunted.
So, I did something I never would have normally done.
I stole a car.
Not just any car.
His car.
Now I have no choice but to trust him.
Only he can help me get out of this mess.
Then, when we both become hunted,
And when feelings begin to complicate things,
Can I still count on his protection?
Can I trust what is happening between us to be real?
Because, as some people say: there is nothing quite like love at first … crime.

I Stole His Car Excerpts:
#1
Then Zander’s gaze turns back to me, and I don’t feel so warm and fuzzy toward him anymore. Instead, I feel as though I’m facing a judge and ready to hear the verdict on just how many years I’m about to be thrown in jail.
“You stole my car,” he growls.
“Yes.” No point denying it.
“You kidnapped my twelve-year-old brother.”
“Technically, yes. However, I wasn’t aware he was in the car at the time,” I pathetically try to defend my actions.
“You came back, though, even after I told you I was calling the police.” His stance is stern, but I see the same expression of curiosity that I saw earlier in Van.
“Yes.” I glance around again, waiting to see the flashing lights of a police car approaching in the distance. Instead, I see a lone officer in uniform approaching us.
I don’t recognize him as one of Brian’s friends, but that doesn’t mean he won’t hand me over to him.
I barely even got to enjoy my freedom away from Brian. Well, it technically wasn’t freedom since I was chased the entire time.
Why can’t I just catch a break?
I can’t stop myself from stepping away from the young officer, my body back to being tense and shaky. I hate that this feels normal to me now. It never used to be. Now it feels strange to feel relaxed.
“What’s wrong?” Van asks me, his concern sweet.
“Excuse me, but did I just hear you accuse this woman of stealing your car?” the officer asks, swinging his hand to rest on his side arm in what looks like a reflex.
Silence falls over us. Van looks as panicked as I feel. I can’t read Zander’s face, but he hasn’t confirmed the man’s words. That gives me a small amount of hope. Maybe he is the most forgiving man in the world.

#2
I lift my hand to touch my bruised lips while unwittingly turning to stare at Zander, seeing he already has his eyes on me.
He’s not smiling. He’s not looking at me with kindness or sympathy. He looks intense, his eyes on my fingers as I brush them over my lips.
Before I can move them away, he rests his free hand on my thigh, his grip tight. He then brushes the inside of my thigh, his touch so close to my crotch that I hold my breath, waiting to see if he intends to do more.
He doesn’t. He leaves his weight there as though he is a brand that is claiming me. Like his touch is keeping me from floating away and ensuring my thoughts stay right here instead of drifting off somewhere more dangerous.
#3
“I promised to protect you,” he says, not moving his hand and pushing his hips harder against me so my back is flat against the door.
“And you did. You told me to get out. You kept me calm, and we got away.”
“But it could have so easily gone wrong. You should have been safe there.” He sounds self-reproaching.
“This will all be over soon.” I lift my hands to his face, careful of where he appears to be hurt. “You said that. We can make it just a little bit longer.”
“I don’t think I can go through that again …” He is whispering now, his husky voice full of emotion.
“You won’t. They might have known where we were before, but they don’t have a clue now. We’re safe, right?”
“We’re safe,” he affirms, finally moving his hand from my chest and up over my shoulder, over my neck, and then cupping my face. “I want you so badly.”
His words cause my breath to hitch and desire to pool low in my belly. I already guessed as much, but hearing his words, listening to them echo inside my head, sets off a chain reaction I can’t stop.
I have wanted him since the first time I laid eyes on him.

The Holidays are Here! Can't Miss Christmas by @mirandaliasson is out now! @Barclay_PR #books #buynow #love #romance

When a children’s book author’s only chance to get home for Christmas lies in a road trip with her sexy ex-husband anything can happen, naughty or nice. Unwrap this Christmas novella from Amazon best-selling author Miranda Liasson, CAN’T MISS CHRISTMAS…

The Baby Project-1600px (1)

About CAN’T MISS CHRISTMAS
Finding love again is the best Christmas present of all.
It’s two days before Christmas and bestselling children’s author Grace Alberts needs to fulfill a promise—to make it to a book signing for the kids at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the place that did so much for her during a very rough time. But the weather’s getting awful and all flights are cancelled out of Boston, where she’s wrapping up her book tour. Then in walks her annoying but extremely sexy ex-husband, who (as usual) thinks he’s got all the answers.

Graham Walker just stopped by to get a book signed for Grace’s biggest fan, his niece, and wish Grace a Merry Christmas—why not? But he soon finds himself troubleshooting her dilemma. He’s got a Range Rover that can plow through a hundred-year Nor’easter. He’s even headed home to Philly. Trouble is, Grace's and his past is a disaster, something he has no intention of reliving while driving through a winter storm, no matter how much he once loved her. And maybe still does.

Bad weather has a way of bringing out the best and the worst in people, and when a run in with some deer antlers leads them to a forced stop in Mirror Lake, Connecticut, anything can happen, naughty or nice. Maybe a bit of enforced alone time and some Christmas magic can be just what it takes for them to face their past—and each other—once and for all.

Excerpt:
Somehow, Grace managed to pass Graham and get in the bathroom, where she used the time to try to calm the hell down. If she didn’t come up with an excuse to leave this room, something combustible was going to happen between them. She had to get out while she still had all her wits about her.
When she’d finally got her breathing under control, she left the bathroom, walked toward her suitcase, and stubbed her toe on the bed.
She let out a curse and hopped around a little, imagining what she must look like with her bedhead hair, red plaid flannel, and Christmas socks. Very sexy. Unlike the delicious, muscular god walking toward her.
She tried to use the pain to distract herself from how her mouth had suddenly gone dry and her knees felt as wobbly as a one-year-old’s, but it wasn’t really working. Worse, Graham stepped a little closer.
She splayed out her arms, warning him back. All that lean muscle, all that raw, masculine heat—it could not come near her. She would throw herself at him, smooth her hands over all that hard, bountiful muscle, and beg for things. Her body could not be trusted. “I’m fine. Really. Just stubbed my toe.”
“Want me to take a look?”
His gaze was torching her, like paper in a fire that turns immediately to ash and blows away.
The fact that he was now inches away with his lips quirked into the slightest smile told her he didn’t heed her warning, or give a damn about it. And oh, she did not want him to. He was so close now, she could smell the soap from his shower, see the little beads of water on his shoulders. His fingers gripped her elbow, and she swore it tingled from his touch. Other parts of her were sort of on fire too. So not good. “Let’s see it,” he said, the smile morphing into a wicked grin.
“Graham, I’m fine.” She tried to shrug away. He dropped his hand, but still she felt pinned in place, unable to move or even breathe. Electricity buzzed and snapped between them. She didn’t want him to see how much he affected her, yet she was helpless with him so near.
His gaze homed in on her lips. He was going to…yes, he was. Kiss her. Her heartbeat thrummed in her throat, and every muscle froze in anticipation.
She wanted it. Wanted him. So, so badly.
Graham lowered his mouth. The dip of his head was so familiar, yet it made every nerve stand on end. At last, their lips met. His were soft and pliant, and they brushed against hers, carefully and slowly. Her hand was trembling as she wrapped it around his neck and pulled him toward her until their bodies were flush, fitting together like they were always meant to.
That simple move blew careful and slow right out of the water. His mouth crushed hers, devouring her with deep, sensual kisses. His tongue slid inside her mouth, and she met it with equal vigor, desire roaring and crashing between them, unleashed like a storm surge, uncontrollable and insatiable.
Suddenly, Graham pulled back, out of breath. He cradled her face in his hands and looked at her tenderly. “I missed you,” he said. “I missed this.”

Can love heal all wounds,
or do some scars never fade?
After a tragic accident took everything from her, Avery is left broken, struggling to find her place in the world again. Now back home in Mason, Alabama, she goes through the motions, carrying on for the people who love her yet longing for the life she lost.

Reid is tired of meaningless flings and one-night stands, but after betrayal left him with major trust issues, anything more is beyond his reach.
When Avery, the enticing and mysterious new bartender in town, awakens emotions he never thought possible, Reid has to decide if she’s a chance worth taking or if some risks are better left avoided.
Will love be their second chance,
or will the past consume their future?
Survivor is the second stand-alone novel in the Sweet Home Dixie contemporary romance series.

“Are you sure you don’t have anything better to do?”
He seemed to think about it for half a second. “Nope.” An amused smiled played on his lips. “Eager to get rid of me?”
“No… it’s just…” She looked down at her shoes, suddenly at a loss for words.
He tilted his head. “It’s just, what?”
She shifted her weight uncomfortably as she wrung her hands. Reid watched her, his amusement growing with every second of her silence. She drew in a breath and let the words fly. “All of a sudden it’s like you…” Another deep breath. “You kind of make me nervous.”
“Is that why you’re doing the potty dance?”
Her cheeks warmed and she crossed her arms over her chest, regretting her honesty.
His expression turned darker and he took a step toward her. “Why do I make you nervous, Avery?”
Heat spread down her neck to her chest and all the way to her fingertips. Still, she didn’t step back or look away as he pinned her with his gaze. She swallowed. “You make me… feel things.”
His eyes smoldered with intensity and—hope? “What kinds of things?”
“Real things. Even… dirty things.” Her cheeks warmed further as the words spilled out.
His eyes widened slightly as his breath hitched. He took another step toward her. “So, what’s stopping you?”
“Right now, I’m not entirely sure.” She licked her lips and dropped her gaze to his mouth. Ever since that night in his truck, she’d wondered what it would be like to kiss him, and right now the urge was stronger than ever.
He leaned closer to her, inch by agonizing inch. Though he reached out to touch her cheek, he seemed to think better of it and dropped his hand to his side. He closed his eyes as if searching for strength, his brow creasing.
“You deserve more than I can give you, Avery.” He took two steps back, his expression pained. “You deserve better than someone like me.”
Her heart raced and her senses were on high alert. For some inexplicable reason, Reid made her feel alive, maybe even happy, something she hadn’t experienced in far too long. “But what if you’re exactly what I’m looking for?”

I’m first and foremost a loving (and sometimes nagging) wife and a mom of a beautiful little boy, but when I'm not wrangling my little one, cleaning up messes, or banging my head against the wall, I try to find the time to write and manage my career as an indie author.
Quitting my job and leaving the world of adults was a life-changing decision for our family, and although it came with its own difficulties, I would make the decision again in a heartbeat. Being home with my son was precious, but being the person that I am, I still felt like I needed something more. Writing became the "more" I was looking for and I was pleased to discover that I had at least one book in me. About six months after I set out to write my first book, Mended was completed and I'd discovered a whole new part of myself I didn't know was there.
For me, writing is a way to escape the everyday stresses of life and it creates a welcome challenge on a daily basis. I hope to make a career out of it, but even if I don’t succeed, I can be grateful that I’ve pushed myself to achieve my dream.
The second book in my Sweet Home Dixie series is called Survivor. It’s about a woman named Avery and her struggle to find her way in the world again after experiencing a tragic loss. Authentic characters, real emotions, heartwarming love, and the enticing spark of romance is all a part of this moving story. Survivor is now available on Amazon!
I'm currently working on the third book in my Sweet Home Dixie Series, and I hope to release it sometime next year, though that all depends on how crazy motherhood gets! My Sweet Home Dixie series is made up of standalone contemporary romance novels set in a small, charming town in southern Alabama.
While all of my books have everything a romance novel should—swoon-worthy men, heart pattering attraction, and just the right amount of sizzle—they go beyond the borders of a typical romance. Deep-rooted emotions, realistic and relatable characters full of flaws and personal struggles, and real issues that work against the characters as they try to find their happy endings all play vitals parts in my stories.
I want to show readers that it’s okay not to be perfect and that everyone falls down at some point in their lives. But with love and personal reflection, we can become far better people than we ever thought possible and can often achieve the unimaginable. I hope you enjoy reading!

Alison Brodie is a Scot, with French Huguenot ancestors on her mother’s side of the family.  Alison was a photographic model, modelling for a wide range of products, including Ducatti motorbikes and 7Up.  She was also the vampire in the Schweppes commercial.
A disastrous modelling assignment in the Scottish Highlands gave Alison an idea for a story, which was to become Face to Face.  She wrote Face to Face as a hobby and then decided to send it off to see what would happen.  It was snapped up by Dinah Wiener, the first agent Alison sent it to.  Three weeks later, Alison signed a two-book deal with Hodder & Stoughton.  Subsequently, Face to Face was published in Germany and Holland.  It was widely reviewed, ie:  “Vain, but wildly funny leading lady.” -Scottish Daily Mail.  It was also chosen as Good Housekeeping’s “Pick of the Paperbacks.”
Unfortunately, Alison then suffered from Second-Book Syndrome.  The publisher’s deadline loomed and she was terrified because she didn’t have an idea for a story!  She found the whole experience a nightmare; and this is why she cautions first-time authors to write more than one book before approaching an agent.  She managed to finish the book – Sweet Talk – but it bombed.
While writing Sweet Talk, she moved to Kansas and lived there for two years.  She loved the people, their friendliness, their free-and-easy way of life, the history and the BBQs!  Sadly, her visa ran out and she had to come back to the UK – although her dream is to one day live permanently in America.  Now, Alison lives in Biarritz, France.
Alison has taken the exhilarating steps to becoming an indie author.  Her second ebook, THE DOUBLE, is out on Amazon Kindle with some great reviews.  “Excellent.” –San Francisco Book Review.
Alison writes contemporary romance.  She aims for a strong plot line, set against the background of a world-changing event, coupled with touches of humour, sexual tension and character transformation.
She loves to hear from her readers.
