He has: Kemp, though severely injured, is rebuilding his empire and plotting revenge. He’s prepared to risk everything to end the former assassin. He may not be the only one.
Suzanne has no choice: to protect those she loves, she will be forced to kill again. Assassins, it seems, can never retire.

 Read an excerpt:
Today is not a good day to die.
No day is, not really. We humans are hard-wired to survive. By most standards, though, this morning is exceptional. The weather is balmy, even for May. The fierce winds that often pound the Welsh coastline have remained offshore. Purple heather blankets the emerald cliffs that encircle Bristol Bay. Small breakers gently lap the shoreline and wash the sand clean of debris. The water sparkles in the sunlight. Shades of azure and aquamarine yield to cyan and lapis further out. In the distance, the sea meets a cerulean sky just where the earth curves. No slate clouds gather at the horizon. All is calm.
Nothing suggested that today I would find myself on a bench in one of the most breathtaking spots in the world with a gun to my head, held by a predator who speaks just two words: “Don’t move.”

Review
"Today is not a good day to die" Thus starts The Former Assassin. The story tells the tale of Susan Foster, also Suzanne, who is a former assassin, working for Viktor Kemp as a top executive in his company, while her other life is to get rid of people that Viktor wants gone. Susan wants out and after 20 plus years she tells him she is done.
Five years later she finds that he has not forgotten. He has someone try to kill her but it does not work out.

Viktor finds out where she and her husband and son are and tries to have them killed. They are still alive and in hiding and Susan has to live without them to protect them. While Viktor is on his yacht with his son and trusted employees, the yacht is blown up killing Viktor and his son. Or did it?

The Former Assassin is character driven, a story of revenge, loss, and redemption. This book grabbed me from the very first page and held my attention. A lot of suspense and characters that you love or hate. I enjoyed it!

My body is spent. I want to feel him release inside of me. I want to collapse on top of him. I want to keep f*cking like two animals that want to survive a wilderness that is both beautiful and vicious. Our chests heave in a unison that signals it’s not over and he starts pumping into me…
Except I’m not just an animal. I turn my head towards the end table, lean over and grab his cell phone.
“Call them off.” I shove the phone into his palms. “All of them. Tell them I’m not here. That they made a mistake.”
Still pumping into me, his eyes grow wider. “Don’t be f*cking crazy. Let me walk you out of here and make everyone believe that you’ve disappeared. At least for a little while.”
He’s hitting that spot. That warm and sensitive spot that makes me second-guess every decision and every goal. That makes me curl up and want to be swept away and taken care of even though I’ve never wanted it to be part of my long-term plan because I’ve seen everything that my mother has gained and lost by…being taken care of.
He searches my face for a place to reason. “What I’m offering…they’re going to catch up to you eventually. And before you catch up to my uncle again. He’s the second-in-line to a multi-national business. You killed one of his men last night. You almost killed him. You think no one noticed? This would give…us a chance.” he pleads. Even though he doesn’t say it, it’s the same proposal that he made on our trip, except without the ring. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tempted. I’d always been tempted.
I freeze. He’ll never know how many times I ran over the circumference of the diamond band on that night stand before I drove off, deciding on a different destiny. I knew the moment I stepped in the old Peugeot that the tread would be forever imprinted on my fingers.
“I can’t.”
The admission makes him choke on whatever he was about to say and roar in frustration, because he’s not the type of man to accept defeat.
His fingers fumble on the screen. Awkwardly he holds the cell against his ear, spitting in Spanish. He’s done what I’ve asked him to do.
He throws the phone, and then locks his forearms around my neck, leading me closer to him. His c*ck is still stiff, and it throbs inside of me, reminding me of why we’re even in this position.
Cursing, his lips find mine, biting, absorbing, demanding. And I reciprocate. I’m not unwilling. I never have been. Our tongues tangle as our bodies begin to move in unison again.

Good Luck With That by Kristan Higgans Book Release!

About the Book:
New York Times bestselling author Kristan Higgins is beloved for her heartfelt novels filled with humor and wisdom. Now, in her newest novel, GOOD LUCK WITH THAT, she tackles an issue every woman deals with: body image and self-acceptance.

Emerson, Georgia, and Marley have been best friends ever since they met at a weight-loss camp as teens. When Emerson tragically passes away, she leaves one final wish for her best friends: to conquer the fears they still carry as adults.

For each of them, that means something different. For Marley, it's coming to terms with the survivor's guilt she's carried around since her twin sister's death, which has left her blind to the real chance for romance in her life. For Georgia, it's about learning to stop trying to live up to her mother's and brother's ridiculous standards, and learning to accept the love her ex-husband has tried to give her.

But as Marley and Georgia grow stronger, the real meaning of Emerson's dying wish becomes truly clear: more than anything, she wanted her friends to love themselves.

A novel of compassion and insight, GOOD LUCK WITH THAT tells the story of two women who learn to embrace themselves just the way they are.

About the Author:
Kristan Higgins is the New York Times, USA TODAY, Wall Street Journal and Publishers Weekly bestselling author of 18 novels, which have been translated into more than two dozen languages. Educational Disobedience By Dr. Annise Mabry Book Tour and Interview!

Educational Disobedience
By Dr. Annise Mabry
Genre: Education, Self-Help, Homeschooling

Book Description

In “Educational Disobedience,” educationist, Dr. Annise Mabry, offers a compelling, unique and refreshing insight into how she helps her children overcome the limitations of what she terms “a broken education system,” in the State of Georgia. Her decision to homeschool them were borne largely due to the fact that they were not receiving the best of education, and more because protection from the unending problem of bullying in public schools was lacking. She soon realized that only a crucial intervention could save her family from falling apart, and it was a decision that proved timely because not only did she achieve her objectives, but she also ended up saving her community! She has helped many parents to transform their children from struggling students to homeschool high school graduates!
This isn't the guide for how to homeschool--it's the story of survival because of homeschool.

 Book Excerpt
My daughter’s spirit broke. She became angry at everything and everyone. She was the victim, yet I was telling her to change her behavior as if she were the perpetrator. Even a simple request such as “Please turn the light off” gave way to a major battle with her. All of the rage that my daughter had bottled up on the inside had to come out somewhere, and I bore the brunt of it.
Overnight, she had transformed me in her mind from her greatest ally to her enemy number one. What I also didn’t realize at the time was that her rage from being bullied was transforming everyone in the house. We were all the victims of these middle school bullies.

Interview with the author!

What do you find most challenging about the writing process, and how do you deal with it?
The most challenging part about the writing process for me was simply finding the focus to get started. It wasn’t until I hired a Developmental Editor that my ideas finally started to make sense and my chapters came together.
When and where do you do your writing?
I do all of my writing in the wee hours of the morning at my dining room table when the rest of the world and my house is asleep so that I don’t have to hear “Honey, is the coffee ready?” when I am in mid-keystroke of an idea.
What have you learned about promoting your books?
The truth is when I wrote my book I never really thought about how I would promote the book. I think the greatest learning lesson for me is just like I allocated a budget for editing, I needed a budget allocation for marketing/promotions.
What are you most proud of as a writer?
I have two proud writer moments.  The first was when I finally finished the book; and, the second was watching the book climb to the Amazon Best Seller rank in the Homeschooling New Release category.  That was truly when I felt like I had arrived as a writer. And can I just add that I stayed in the Top 10 New Releases for the entire month of July!!
If you could have dinner with any writer, living or dead, who would it be and what would you talk about?
If I could have dinner with any writer, it would be LouAnne Johnson and I would talk to her about her motivation, her writing style, and how she really redefined what it means to be an out-of-the-box educator.
