Reviews!

To any authors/publishers/ tour companies that are looking for the reviews that I signed up for please know this is very hard to do. I will be stopping reviews temporarily. My husband passed away February 1st and my new normal is a bit scary right now and I am unable to concentrate on a book to do justice to the book and authors. I will still do spotlight posts if you wish it is just the reviews at this time. I apologize for this, but it isn't fair to you if I signed up to do a review and haven't been able to because I can't concentrate on any books. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time. I appreciate all of you. Kathleen Kelly April 2nd 2024

My Review of A Cutthroat Business by Bente Gallagher

Product description from Publishingworks"Savannah Martin had heard that real estate was a cutthroat business, but who knew that was a literal definition? When she stumbles upon a murdered co-worker while showing a house to a dashingly handsome rogue her southern belle nature takes a back seat to Nancy-Drew-like detective skills, but will she solve the case or become the next victim?"

"Bente Gallagher also writes under the pen name Jennie Bentley for Berkley Press and currently has three books in her DIY mystery series."

I received the book A Cutthroat Business by Bente Gallagher from PublishingWorks, Inc. for read and review.

This is a great mystery story mixed with the good guys and the bad guys and the people who are not detectives but try to figure out two murders anyway. Savannah Martin, a real estate agent who is not doing too well selling houses at the moment, gets a call from a prospective buyer that the agent that was supposed to show this particular house never showed up. Savanah reluctantly goes to show the house and between her and the prospective buyer, Rafe Collier, who was a classmate to Savannah in high school and the token bad boy, find a dead body in a pool of blood.

There is a lot of sexual tension in the air in this great story along with suspense and the cast of characters, of which there are quite a few. I particular liked the little lady with Alzheimers who keeps escaping the nursing home she has been put into against her wishes and going back to her now empty home. Then there is Savannah's family who are always trying to fix her up with the perfect man. Savannah on the other hand has mixed feelings for Rafe and is not sure how to handle it. Somehow Savannah gets pulled into trying to figure out why her coworker, the dead body in the pool of blood, with the help of Rafe, to the consternation of the police investigating the murder. So the mystery deepens when another coworker of Savannah dies that the pair realize that they could both be in danger.
This was a book that was fun to read with just enough mystery, humor and very likeable characters, well except for the bad guy/gal to keep the storyline flowing smoothly. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I received this ARC from Publishingworks for review. I received no monetary compensation for my honest opinion.
