I received a sample package of Exuviance Intensive Eye Treatment Pads (12 ct) free for review and I did only one treatment so far, recommended three times per week, so I still have to do two more treatments this week. At this time I don't have a lot to say about the results, I will update my review after a few more treatments.
These pads are very easy to use, there are two pads per package and they are cut in such a way that they go right under the eyes perfectly. I had no problem applying them at all and I was able to go about my business for 20 minutes. I even wear glasses and the pads did not interfere with my ability to wear my glasses. Like I said above, I don't think one use is enough for any measurable results. When I was wearing them I did notice a cooling feeling, which was very nice. All in all, I would say that this is a product that I would be willing to continue using.
I received the sample of Exuviance Intensive Eye Treatment Pads for review and I was not monetarily compensated for my review. This post powered by BrandBacker
Series: Book One, The Seven Sisters
Genre: Historical Fiction
Internationally bestselling author Lucinda Riley returns with THE SEVEN SISTERS, the first novel in a spellbinding new series (seven books in all) inspired by the ancient myth of the Seven Sisters of Pleiades. THE SEVEN SISTERS takes readers from the shores of Lake Geneva to modern day Rio de Janeiro to bohemian Paris of the 1920s in a sweeping saga of passion, sacrifice, and the enduring power of art.
Upon the death of their wealthy, enigmatic father, Maia D’Apliese and her sisters convene at their family home, a secluded estate on the shores of Lake Geneva. Each of the sisters had been adopted at birth from a different part of the globe. Maia, the eldest, is the first to learn of their adoptive father’s death. Confusion is added to her grief when the sisters -- Maia, the beauty; Ally, the leader; Star, the peacemaker; CeCe, the pragmatist; Tiggy, the nurturer; and Electra, the fireball – gather to hear the reading of the will. Their father has left each of his daughters a simple clue about her birthplace.
Until now, Maia has constructed her life so that she does not have to leave the safety of the family nest. But spurred by her father’s final bequest, Maia embarks on a journey to Rio de Janeiro to discover the truth of her origins. In Rio, Maia is accompanied by Floriano Quintelas, a novelist and amateur historian, who is intrigued to discover that Maia is apparently descended from the Aires Cabrals, an aristocratic Portuguese family who have been prominent in the country for the past two centuries. Together, they delve into her complex family history, a quest that is helped by their discovery of the crumbling mansion where an elderly woman – Maia’s biological grandmother -- is on the verge of death. When the old woman’s caretaker secretly slips Maia a stack of old letters, an astonishing family history unfolds.

Lucinda Riley was born in Ireland and during her childhood travelled extensively abroad, particularly to the Far East to visit her father.
Moving to London she became an actress working in film, theatre and television. Five years ago she designed and built a house on the island of Koh Chang in Thailand, where her father had purchased land many years before. Her passion for history combined with her love of travel, and Thailand in particular, inspired her to write her novel Hothouse Flower, published by Penguin in November 2010.

My Review
The Seven Sisters by Lucinda Riley is loosely based on the Seven Sisters of the Pleiades, a constellation next to the belt of Orion. Real life sisters, Maia, Electra, Taygete, Alcyone, Celaeno, and Sterope were all adopted by a rich man "Pa Salt". Their adoptions are a mystery in themselves as their father never discussed it. They were adopted from various places around the globe all from different nationalities.
Maia D'Apliese was away on a needed getaway in London to visit a friend when she gets word that Pa Salt passed away. She is the first of the sisters to arrive at the Lake Geneva estate, Atlantis. Their father has already been buried at sea and they are all there for the reading of the will. They are all given a clue as to their birth and they need to figure it out from this clue.
Maia's clue takes her to Rio de Janeiro where she discovers who her family is. Her journey takes her to her dying biological grandmother. She is given letters from her grandmothers caretaker that tells her the story of Maia's great grandmother, Izabela Bonifacio, daughter of Italian immigrants, whose fortune comes from coffee farms. Izabela is betrothed to a man, her father has chosen for her and prior to the wedding her intended allows her to go to Paris with a friend. While there she meets Laurent, a handsome sculptor who is assisting in the creation of the famous Christ the Redeemer monument that looks over Rio.
While in Rio, Maia meets a novelist, Floriano Quintelsas, who she has translated a novel for, and he accompanies her on her discovery of her birthright. While learning about her great grandmother, Maia also learns about herself and what is really important, it helps her get out of her own seclusion and discover her heart. This is a wonderful story, full of love passion, history and the beauty that is Paris and Rio de Janeiro. This story is very well written and will have the reader wanting more, and of course there will be as this is the first in a series of books featuring each of the sisters as they explore their ancestry. I loved everything about the book, the complex characters. The story takes the reader from the shores of Lake Geneva, Switzerland to Rio de Janeiro and then back to 1920's Paris.
I recently went to the Dominican Republic and went up the mountain to see the replica of the Christ Redeemer statue and reading this story gave me more insights as to how the original was constructed. The author gives us an idea about the art of sculpting and the history of the monument itself. Very interesting indeed. This is a historical fiction novel that you won't want to end. I highly recommend this book, but be prepared to stay up late to get to the last page and then eagerly awaiting the next in the series.

Ruddy complexions were like skywriting, a girl in high
school had told him once. The message may appear slowly, but everyone can see
it for miles around and remember it for days. “I have to get back to work.” He
gathered up his trash and headed for the can. When he turned around, Pepper was
standing close, nose to his chin. “Tell Glenda hello.” Before he could go, she
grabbed his arm.
“Harry, I really mean it. I am glad I saw...what I saw.
Where did you get it again? Could I get one like it, or is that a one-of-a-kind
thing?”
He told her about the encounter in the park with the
homeless man. “It’s a mystery why he picked me.” He pictured the day of the
handoff, the police hurrying the old guy away before he could explain himself.
The police responding to his own complaint about the vagrants camping out. She
was the first person he shared this with.
“You have been given much responsibility in many areas.”
With that, she stood on tiptoe and pecked him on the cheek. “You have been
given a gift. Thank you for sharing your magical looking-piece with me.”
“Um. You’re welcome. And thanks.” He demurred, dropping his
hand from her grip. “But I don’t believe in magic.”
“A man of science and numbers, I get it.” She tipped her
head sideways, considering him. “The mysteries of the universe reveal more than
we see with our eyes or hear with our ears. If we slow down and really absorb what
it’s trying to teach us, we might be surprised and delighted.” She poked a
slender finger at his chest. “I choose to keep my mind open to the
possibilities. What about you, Harry?”

My Review
I received the MIRA Automatic One Touch Electric Milk Frother, Warmer, Foam Maker for review and paid a minimal cost for the product. I received the frother in the time specified through Amazon Prime and it was packaged very well, very well protected. I was eager of course to try it so I pretty much tried it right out of the box, well I did wash it out a bit (can not submerge in water though). I used the correct amount of milk, I used skim, up to the max fill line that is indicated on the inside of the frother, never go over the lines indicated or it may overflow. The frother is actually in two pieces, the warming plate and the frother. You need to be careful because the pitcher itself does come off the plate completely. Makes it a lot easier to clean that way.
I love to have a latte in the afternoon, whether it is a chai tea, matcha tea or a coffee latte, and this little appliance is the perfect thing for this purpose. With the amount of milk I used, to the max line for the frother, it was the perfect amount of foam for my drink. I like to use a large mug. The foam was wonderful, thick and creamy and it lasted through the entire cup. It made my drink that much better, so much so that I now have a latte every afternoon. I may even experiment with it and ad a bit of syrup to the milk to sweeten the foam a bit.
What I also liked about the frother is that you can make a different type of drink because there are two different little paddles, one for frothing and the other for mixing. This will be perfect for making hot chocolate on a cold winter evening. I think that there are a number of different drinks that can be made in this appliance.
What I love about it? I love the entire thing, the foam is awesome, the frother is small, doesn't take up much room for storage, it is easy to clean and use. Just an on/off switch, nothing fancy but boy does it do what it is supposed to. Before I received this product I was using a hand pump frother, which worked fine but it did not create the thick and creamy foam that the MIRA Automatic One Touch Electric Frother does. A great product! Purchase Link: http://www.amazon.com/MIRA-Automatic-Electric-Frother-Warmer/dp/B00X4VK9H6?keywords=automatic+milk+frother

From Pamela Schoenewaldt, author of SWIMMING IN THE MOON, short-listed for the Langum Prize in American Historical Fiction, and USA Today bestseller WHEN WE WERE STRANGERS, comes a captivating new novel, UNDER THE SAME BLUE SKY (May 5, 2015; $14.99; William Morrow Paperbacks), about a young German-American woman seeking her place and her people amidst the turmoil of the First World War.
Hazel Renner is on the cusp of adulthood as WWI breaks out, the daughter of German shopkeepers in Pittsburgh who have high hopes for who she might become. Her mother is convinced that Hazel’s mysterious healing talents point to a career in medicine, but Hazel’s dreams lie elsewhere.
As the war escalates, isolating her community and family, Hazel escapes to teach in a one-room country schoolhouse, desperate for peace. But the traumas of war are everywhere, in a gentle man still shell shocked from an old war, and in her own father, who can’t resolve the fissure of his native and adopted countries. When her healing powers bring shattering consequences, Hazel understands that to move forward, she must first understand her past, in particular the truth about her birth. As the world rages, she travels to a remarkable castle in New Jersey and post-war Germany to solve the mystery of her mother—and ultimately of herself, and to fashion a new kind of healing for a shell-shocked hero.
“Absorbing and layered with rich historical details, Schoenewaldt weaves a tender and at times, heartbreaking story about German-Americans during World War I. With remarkable compassion, the author skillfully portrays conflicted loyalties, the search for belonging, the cruelty of war, and the resilience of the human spirit.”—Ann Weisgarber, author of The Promise and The Personal History of Rachel Dupree
“From the smoke-filled streets of Pittsburgh to the war-ravaged landscape of Europe, UNDER THE SAME BLUE SKY is the story of one woman’s wonderfully determined journey through a world at the edge of war to seek her family’s past and her own future.” — Jessica Brockmole, author of Letters from Skye
“The past returns in this story of the Great War, to tell of some who survived and some who didn’t. Hazel Renner is a hesitant healer, a young woman afraid of her gift. When the power to cure physical ailments deserts her, she tries instead to mend the human spirit. Rich in historical detail, this novel describes what it is to be gentle in a world gone terribly mad.” — Rita Leganski, author of The Silence of Bonaventure Arrow
“Schoenewaldt has done it again - crafted a rich and refreshing tale that not only sweeps us back to the American landscape of 1914 but keeps us bound to the page as young German-American Hazel Renner fights for her dreams while war rages on abroad.” — Susan Gregg Gilmore, author of The Funeral Dress and Looking for Salvation at the Dairy Queen
Pamela Schoenewaldt is the USA Today bestselling author of the novels WHEN WE WERE STRANGERS, which was translated into three languages and selected as a Barnes & Noble Discoveries Selection, and SWIMMING IN THE MOON, which appears in German this year and which was short-listed for the Langum Prize in American Historical Fiction. Her prize-winning short stories have appeared in literary magazines in England, France, Italy, and the United States. She taught writing for the University of Maryland, European Division and the University of Tennessee. You can find her online at http://pamelaschoenewaldt.com/.
