To any authors/publishers/ tour companies that are looking for the reviews that I signed up for please know this is very hard to do. I will be stopping reviews temporarily. My husband passed away February 1st and my new normal is a bit scary right now and I am unable to concentrate on a book to do justice to the book and authors. I will still do spotlight posts if you wish it is just the reviews at this time. I apologize for this, but it isn't fair to you if I signed up to do a review and haven't been able to because I can't concentrate on any books. My Thoughts

This second book in the series takes Avelynn and Alrik flees England running for their lives. Avelynn is being sought and charged for being a witch, treason, and murder. They go to Wales for refuge. Alrik feels obligated to help his friends in their war against Rhodri the Great. Both Avelyn and Alrik have something to prove, Avelyn hopes to be able to return to England and defend herself against the charges and Alrik wants to regain his honor and hopefully appease the gods.

This story is one that takes the reader back to a dangerous time, where at any moment a woman could and would be charged with witchcraft, whether she is or not. A time that is fraught with danger but this story is also about redemption, love, and honor. Even though Avelynn and Alrik are separated by jealousy from another woman and by greed, will their love be enough to bring them back together? To find out you have to read this wonderful series! Bringing a medieval era, superstitions, and warring factions together in one story!

“You’re in danger out here.” Brett leaned against the dresser, his arms crossed over his chest as he was careful not to knock over the television that sat on the surface. “The longer you stay out here, away from the tribe, the more danger you’re in. None of the other members are close enough to be able to aid you in an emergency.”

“You can’t stay locked in your room all the time. Your beast wants to be let out so it can roam. It won’t be long before someone figures out you’re a shifter. You’ll be in danger. You need to come home,” Noah added.

The men shared a look before Brett stepped away from the dresser and came to squat before her. “Jase sent me with Noah for a reason.”

“You mean because you’re my mate?” Saying it aloud made her chest tighten. Again, she reminded herself she couldn’t deal with a mate and everything that union meant when she found herself in this predicament. “Jase knows who will mate with whom as long as he’s met both of them and he loves to throw them together in an unexpected situation. Like he did with Sin and Garret.”

“I didn’t understand why Sin and Garret stopped by my place right before we left. It seemed out of place for them to show up to tell me how they’d met but when you opened the door, the pieces fell into place. Jase knew we’re to be mates and their story was to show me that if we allowed this to happen naturally, things would work out.”

“You don’t want me. Trust me, I’ve been through some awful shit and I’m messed up. That’s why I can’t go back to Crimson Hollow.” She dragged her hand through her hair, tugging the ruby red strands away from her face. “I think both of you should leave now.”

“Not a chance.” Noah shook his head. “You two have some things to discuss. I’m going to make a run for some food. Anything special you want, Swift?”

“You’re leaving?” She stared up at him, her eyes wide, and her heart beating a little too fast with fear.

Born and raised in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area, Marissa Dobson now resides about an hour from Washington, D.C. She’s a lady who likes to keep busy, and is always busy doing something. With two different college degrees, she believes you are never done learning.

Being the first daughter to an avid reader, this gave her the advantage of learning to read at a young age. Since learning to read she has always had her nose in a book. It wasn’t until she was a teenager that she started writing down the stories she came up with.

My Thoughts

First off I want to thank the Associate Publicist at St.Martin's Press for sending me a copy of this book for review.

This story of a young woman looking for love after two failed relationships is a charming and at times funny tale. At first I was a little put off by the premise of a woman going to Paris and looking for her soulmate with specific and seemingly unrealistic requirements of the type of man she is seeking. They do say that love at first sight is true and I think that this is what Isabel is hoping for. I say unrealistically because this may happen with people with titles and money, this type of situation hardly happens for the middle-class person.

In spite of that, I did enjoy reading the story and was cheering for Isabel and Alec to get together and make this relationship work. After a few bumps that is. I enjoyed the description of Paris at Christmas time and it was a nice look into how the rich live, i.e. food, clothing and even the culture. Definitely a fairy tale romance!
